I have picked out a good computer, thank y'all for the recommendations. I have picked a Dell Alienware M18 with a core 19, a 32gb of ram, 1tb ssd, and an RTX 4070, which just about does all I ask of it. Of course, an i9 might seem overkill and does more than I originally wanted, however I'll be doing a lot of multitasking while I use it.

I was in the market for a new laptop about a year ago, and read good things about the M18.

One thing to consider is the physical aspects of the laptop: how big do you want it? Does it have a numpad? What ports does it have that you might need? Is it expandable with a second HDD or SDD? What's the resolution and the monitor frequency? Does it support HDR (do you even want it to)? Does it have a MUX switch? etc. etc.

Those are important considerations as much as anything inside. Personally I went for a Lenovo Legion Pro 7 as fully pimped out as I could, and I've been very happy with it. It was the only laptop that fit my needs (specifically having a numpad) so I'm rather glad it worked out!

I just got a Framework 16. It unfortunately won't be suiting my needs so I'll be returning it, but I'd definitely recommend one if you're not as particular as I am.

Want to say this is one of the most crucial points if you're getting a laptop: make sure you can get 2 tebibytes internal storage on it eventually. The laptop I have has no space to put in another internal drive and my drive is a relative pittance for the modern era so I'm stuck with essentials on the inside and larger stuff on my external: half my Doom WADs are on my external and it's mentally stressing. And any drive being external will be a perpetual worry as its link will be at best USB; that link will fray faster than the drive.
