WIP Medium Doom wad (MAPS 01, 02 and 03)

Work in progress wad that I will try to finish. The wad will have 10 maps and I'll constantly update it but since i build extemely slowly it might take me more than a month or two. It is for BooM Complevel 9 and works in gzdoom (tested with boom strict)

The wad is meant to be played single segment but pistol start is also taken into account and the wad is inconsistent sometimes so yeah and thats all. I recommend you treat this as an early version. The Zip file also contains a demo which is me playing the wad on Ultra Medium finding all secrets and complvl 9 and if it desyncs that ok I guess.

 

Only Playerstarts 1 2 3 4 are added. No extra enemies or guns.

 

Iwad is doom2

 

Map format is Boom Doom2

 

Boom is needed

 

Difficulty level is mid

simple design and basic straightforward progression along random secrets.....atmosphere is fine...fights are way too easy with lots of ammo health and armors....

like the conveyer belts fight though and some other catchy areas....

my prboom cl9 uv demo with zero deaths took 10 mins for all 3 maps

The fact that it's easy doesn't bother me at all, on the contrary, it allows me to relax and focus on the secrets, to look at the map & chill, and I like that the maps aren't huge (it's a trap I think as a moder of making maps quickly huge); Plus, these are the first levels, so you don't expect a particularly intense difficulty.
Seeing that you started with a universe rather faithful to the original Doom, I think that you could have made a mod for Doom I rather than Doom II.

Don't know, but it can feel a bit frustrating to put too many useless doors in whole corridor.

A tiny tiny tiny detail, but if I were you I would have put a blue texture between the two bodies of water

Was expecting to miss some secret because of this vector behind the door on the map, but apparently not. Strange no?

What I like in testing little wad is to discover some mechanisms I didn't know; I didn't know you could make treadmills in doom, it's great!

I cant find a water texture for lower wall texture but there is a water texture for UDMF but this is boom.

There is a little secret or easter eggs behind the bathroom stalls but I didnt really want the player to see sh1t.

 

Anyways this might take me a long time since my building speed and level creativity is terrible.

I played to your maps. And it was good. I really liked the idea to put some conveyor belts at MAP03. It gave some interesting identity to this map. As it's using the Doom II vanilla textures, there are some intempts to make Doom cutes, and that was welcome.  

 

Btw, fighting hellknights with the classic shotgun is criminal ! Try to put the super-shotgun sooner next time ! >_<

Just trying to annoy the player. But in reality they were basically just meat shields sometimes.
