Spiral.wad

 

Just a normal DOOM II wad with some demons to kill. I tried to string out the development of this WAD for a few days, but then I kind of forgot about it, so I finished it tonight, and here you go. Description and the useless copyright information are in the README in the .zip for the wad. Have fun!

 

NOTE: WAD is a little challenging, but it can be done. It takes around 10-12 minutes for me to complete it on the full playthrough when I finished it.

Really strange. I've never came across that issue when I was playtesting the WAD (and that room in particular).

This mostly seems to work on Crispy Doom, other than a few HOMs and the fact a particular teleporter past that quad or so of Mancubi doesn't work for some odd reason.

You can get softlocked in the room with the window looking out to a cliffside with two shotgunners and a chaingunner if you fall down.
The door to the next silver room is also broken. If you continue onwards to the room with the mancubus, other mancubi will shoot through the wall.

That was meant to happen, and you shouldn't really need to go back to the other room considering there's no secrets or anything extra in there. I'll try and fix those issues, though

This map has issues. More than a couple of them will softlock you and cause you to get stuck. I won't be able to review it more until

those issues have been solved.

 

I'll count the ones I found since the others have been reported already.

In the room with the nukage floor (which is not damaging) a part of the lower wall of faces does not scroll.

In the concrete maze, this switch did nothing, so I shot at it.

This woke the Archvile, who immediately beelined in my direction and went through this teleporter.

Which must be set to Walk Once, because I could not use it afterwards.

I suspect the teleporter is also set to Walk Once, and one of the Mancubi went through it before the player...

I checked. It is set to WR, not W1.

Nah, it doesn't have to be. But it's pretty common to use the nukage with some kind of damaging effect.

 

I got stuck at that door before the mancubus room, it doesn't seem to work right. I looked at it in UDB and it looks okay, but something might be off that I'm not seeing. You may have to redo the door, perhaps move it back a bit.

 

I also saw that you are having monsters teleport destinations to the entire room, better to have a fixed spot (or several) that they can teleport to.

 

The teleporter in the Mancubus room still doesn't work. Not sure why either.

Aaaaaaand I just found out I'm stupid lol. The linedef was facing the wrong way for some reason, even though I did make a door in UDB. Everything should be working now
