PSX Sector Lighting Specials

Im making my "doom maps in psx style" mappack, and i want to ask: is it possible to recreate the special lighting effects of sectors from psx like the developers of "PSX TC" and "Master Edition on GZDoom" did? This is possible only through ACS, or possible through zscripts?

Hi, friend. If you mean the lighting effect commonly used in PSX Doom outputs, I believe to date those special lighting effects that the console versions of PSX Doom and Doom64 used have not been implemented in the current GZDoom, in my project the code for these effects is incorporated into the GZDoom 1.9 engine but it is already outdated, in the TC it is very likely that acs was used and you can also consult the CE project that has code adapted from my project in zscript to achieve those effects.

Use UDMF dude. You can directly add colored lighting in the sector options without having to go through hoops with scripting.

What does  long light glowing  look like?

  • is it a sector light/colour effect
  • is it a linedef light/colour effect
