Can someone tell me why something I upload to IdGames might keep getting corrupted?

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure if this is a common issue but I've never heard anyone talk about it. I've been trying to upload Hot Old Garbage to IdGames with the dedicated website uploader for a few weeks now, it was rejected for being a corrupted file for some reason once, so I remade the zip file, sent it over again, and although it got in, it still seems to be corrupted? You can't remove the wad file from the zip. Here's the file on IdGames, and here's the exact same file I sent them but on Google Drive. It's definitely not corrupted on my end. Would help if anyone knew what this was about, some accident on their end or some hyper specific thing that keeps breaking it?

Edit: Oops wrong subforum, sorry I've already told a moderator

The gdrive link gives me "Headers Error: hog.wad" when trying to extract it with 7zip. The idgames link extracts without errors, and the original version you attached to the thread on release day also worked fine.

Strange, I guess it is an issue on my end, that's good. The wad extracts fine for me if I just do it through Windows' zip extraction, but yeah there's probably an issue here if that's happening, thanks!

Alright I do believe I've found the issue, it might've been the aforementioned hyper specific thing, not exactly sure what I did to fix it but it seems alright now. No need to reply further.

What is that "hyper specific thing"? I'm curious, since I usually use 7z for almost everything. I also don't wanna my compressed wads to be corrupted in future when I need them.
