LadyMistDragon Posted May 25 (edited) forget it, it was the wrong map Edited May 25 by LadyMistDragon 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

It's easy to replace music but people don't even seem to know about replacing stock music. Anyway this map has plenty of good ideas, flows pretty well and know what it wants. At the same time, I'm not really sure why one has to pass through bars for the blue key. That's just the sort of thing that's impassable normally. Moreover, the slime hallway was overly large, stretched on for a while and was just incredibly empty. The rest of the map felt quite restrained in economy up to that point. Solid feedback, but it looks like the map you played in your video is not the map I made. Sorry if there's any confusion, but here is the proper Techbase Terror download link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DyLobtGSu9PiacaRdd4LC5xi5Xu1GJwD/view?usp=sharing 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
TMMMS Posted May 25 not bad but i feel like the map is full of missed opportunities in terms of traps and ambushes eg the dark room and the supershotgun location also it took me a while to figure out that the bridge to the blue key would automatically raise upon approaching it 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
MisterLivers Posted May 26 Its alright for a first Map, the dark room with the strobing lights was a little harsh, put some sectors that dont have the effect in the room and brighten them up to give a better appearance with some light textures. use Flats for floors and ceilings only aswell. now for the actual gameplay, its a little weird. the blue key was dumb, give a clue that you can just walk up to it or dont make it raise at all. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Yeah, looking back I should’ve made the bridge to the blue key more obvious, like adding a switch or something, I’ll definitely be taking all of the feedback into consideration for my next map though. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Retro_Roy132 Posted May 26 Just played through it. It was overall great, my main feedback is that the strobing lights part was not very fun, I personally have pulled the Specters in the dark trick before in my maps, but please make the low light it flashes to at least a bit brighter, the seeable to pitch black was kind of jarring while fighting, then it was annoying to fumble in the dark after the fight trying to open the door. The way to get the blue key was also weird however, I thought you had to jump across the gap but then the bridge raised and I felt like an idiot. Beside those, the rest of the map is great for a first map, it was very classic doom style, with the more abstract design of the location it presumably takes place in in favor of having a more fun arena to fight in. Not a criticism, you kind of have to try to make the locations at least usable with that approach. Overall, 7/10 map. I had fun. One last thing, just a personal opinion, I'm not the biggest fan of loading in and immediately having enemies attacking you. I like an empty room to start in, but just a personal preference. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
DoomBerry Posted May 28 Fun little map, I enjoyed it! :) Spoiler The flickering light area is not great, maybe use shadows and light areas more instead of just the full on flicker. It took me a while to figure out the "leap of faith" bridge, a shootable switch could be a better option. Thanks and great work! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Degree23 Posted June 1 A solid map, and my feedback has already been mentioned but to emphasise: - The strobing section is very jarring because it goes to complete darkness. - It's not intuitive to want to jump down pits that look inescapable, so it meant I ran around for about 5 minutes trying to work out how to get the Blue Key before coming back to this thread to see if anyone had commented on it. These are two things that really need changed, but otherwise an enjoyable first map! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
FrozenNemesis Posted June 6 I very much enjoyed this map! Here a video of my playthrough and a summary of my feedback. I just noticed that you listed jumping as required, but outside of one or two places where jumping will get you out of a soft-lock I didn't find that to be true. My feedback assumes no jumping, crouching, or mouse-look. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
