I miss the horror aspect of DOOM 2016

DOOM 2016 had a really great creepy atmosphere. An atmosphere of some kind of ominousness and mystery.

As for me, this is exactly what this game and Doom 3 have in common (yeah, I love Doom 3, Doom 64 and PSX Doom).

Of course, Doom 2016 is by no means a scary game, but it feels like something very, VERY terrible has happened. There is a feeling that you are completely alone and you have to struggle with circumstances, despite all your toughness.
And for some reason this same feeling is missing in Doom Eternal. I don't even know what exactly is wrong...

Maybe it's because of the general goofiness and cartoonishness of Doom Eternal.

Doom 2016 showed that the main character is very mortal and vulnerable. Damn, almost every enemy attack has its own unique death animation. The fucking revenant could rip Doomslayer's arm off and beat him to death with his own hand. How brutal is this?!

This is what is sorely missing from Doom Eternal. There, death looks like a flying camera with hands just falls to the ground and that’s it. Lame.

I want to see with my own eyes in first person how a huge muscular, pumped up sexy bastard Baron of Hell rips my guts out.

And all this crap about “You are so dangerous and cool that demons are afraid of you” has always been a blatant lie for me.
Even the flimsiest single Imp will attack you without much fear.

But Doom 2016 perfectly showed how ruthless and cruel demons are. The scene where the Hell Knight tore the guard in two and then broke the scientist's neck still gives me goosebumps

THIS is how you should show worldbuilding. This is how you create the atmosphere in the game.
Not through cringe audio logs of some scientist who almost has orgasms when she talks about Doomslayer, ugh...

I still like the gameplay of Doom Eternal, but the atmosphere... it was completely different.
If they are REALLY going to make a new Doom game, then I would like to see the "horror" aspects return to the game... But it seems to me that none of this will happen

Never heard of it being scary, I thought it's like Brutal Doom. However, I was told many times that Doom Eternal completely ditched whatever atmosphere Doom 2016 had in favor of gameplay. Never played either though.

Like I said, Doom 2016 isn't even close to scary, but it does have that uneasy and eerie atmosphere
