Devil's Abode (2nd effort in mapping)

listen up marine! there's an old mansion on the outskirts of town, a whole lot of demonic activity has been reported there. We sent some of the boys to take a look around but nobody has reported back... We need you to check it out.

 

 

-I have been working on this map for a little bit and another larger project as well. this particular map happened while I was taking a break from said "larger project".  So this wad was me getting some more experience in UDB and trying out some different things, as well as my first foray into ACS scripting. I Also Wrote a Midi! 

the map in general is pretty typical. a lil bit of slaughter elements but not too crazy. it should take maybe 30 min or so to finish. any who give it a try!

 

(EDIT) This is an update to the map "Devil's Abode". I made Some small tweaks to the map. I added some visual feed back for getting the yellow key made some changes for some of the monsters Thanks To LadyMistDragon for letting me know about the Issues, Hopefully the progression through the map wont be overly cryptic. Thanks!

tested in GZDOOM Latest version W/ standard doom controller scheme. 

 

Note: there was some texture weirdness going on at the end of the map. I'm not sure what its  about, because it wasn't doing it before.

Played up to the point where a switch seemingly didn't seem to work near the large field with monsters everywhere....maybe some backtracking was required but at this point, things seemed a little too unclear to me.

 

This is a good map though, don't get me wrong. Single-shotgunning two hell knights is tiresome and perhaps, having ambushes in narrow corridors already entered drags things out needlessly but lots of effort clearly went into this and there's plenty of character throughout this mansion.

 

Although I was able to get the berserk pack on the library shelves but due probably to the low ceiling, it proved very difficult!

still watching your video currently. so will get back to you on the rest of the playthrough. but regarding the berserk pack the bookshelf with the different flag pattern lowers to the floor when pressed.

so i finished watching the playthrough. So yea. I was doing a lot of unnecessary cryptic stuff. is what it came down to. so that switch where the cyber demon opens up a lil room to press a switch that lowers a platform to get the yellow key. but in the previous room where the lights go out. when you press the switch it lowers revealing another switch behind it. I wasn't sure at the time if would be to much. I'll prolly go back and revise the map, I don't really make the most eye catching maps so i try to make them tough but fun! 

 

Also yea there was backtracking required once the yellow key was obtained.
