How Does Doomguy Do This?

Have you ever noticed how Doomguy always has leather gloves on when using most of his weapons, but then he takes them off when he switches to his fists? You can see it if you load into a new map, type idkfa, and just compare the firing sprites for the shotgun and his fists. The shotgun has a really prominent line where his gloves end and his arms begin, and the fists are just completely gloveless

I noticed it a long time ago, but I never gave it much thought.  I'm guessing.. he slides them off the hands when using the fist.  When using the SG or SSG he puts them back on.

Mostly how he puts them back on so quickly. Have you ever put on gloves before? It's not a quick process

Tell me what the hell is that? Badassery? A bothersome? Because I can imagine him doing that and humming At Doom's Gate while taking off and putting his gloves back and say "UNF".

 

Anyway, it's such a funny inconsistency with the weapons.

that's just obvious to me i feel like it'd be patronizing if they put it in the manual

Oh ok. Considering the insane speeds Doomguy runs and even switches between weapons in the first place it's not that surprising he can also put gloves on and off really fast. Also there's many types of gloves, with varying levels of friction, tightness, etc. Latex gloves are a pain in the ass to put on but I could easily slip on some winter gloves at the same speed Doomguy does. What type of glove was Kevin Cloud wearing for those photos? I feel like I read it somewhere but I can't remember now.

The gloves help him keep better control of the weapons while on the lunar surface, but the brass knuckles don’t fit with the gloves on, so he takes the gloves off to use the brass knuckles. He’s so use to it he just keeps it up in hell and on earth.

The gloves are glued to his guns and shotgun shells so he has to slide his hands into them every time he uses them

Yeah, Doomguy's glove tricks are weird. But nowhere near as mind-boggling as him swapping his entire stash of bullets between pistol and chaingun in 1-2 seconds. Or his ability to fire the pistol without reloading, for that matter.

Never realized that he took them off, like I noticed it but dude, I've never realized how weird it is, my guess is that Doomguy takes off his gloves really quickly obviously, but I don't know to be honest, probably just a mistake they made while making DOOM and didn't notice.

This is slight offtopic but I always wondered what kind of gloves is he wearing.

Turns out, and this is just my take, they're based on surgical gloves.

So given that he'd just roll them off.
