Vertex mapping... any faster method?

Question

Surely there MUST be a faster way to select multiple vertex points in UDB other than incessantly clicking each and every one... like a hotkey or key combination that selects all on screen or... something??

Anything???Image2.jpg.c4ce185e3cdb7a6d592e94acd8071791.jpg

I don't know about UDB, but in DBX you can hold shift and make rectangular selections with mouse if you're in 2D view and vertex mode.

You can do that in UDB (without the shift key) but you can't manipulate the Z height of vertexes in the 2D view. I need to be able to select multiple vertexes at once and raise them together. Doing it one by one literally takes HOURS.

Ah, I didn't understand at first. Is there really no dialog in UDB that you might open in 2D view, similar to setting a sector's height? (By right clicking the sector in sector mode.) If something like that could be found, there might be a way to set the z value with ++x which would raise all affected by x regardless of their current value. Other than that, I have no idea. There is this kind of dialog in DBX, if you select vertex in 2D vertex mode and right click one of them.

This is all you get. And this is useless.
Using this method is actually slower than changing the Z height of each vertex individually in 3D view.

I assume you want to create some terrain.

There are two methods to speed things up which I can think of:

1a. paint the vertices in question in Vertex Mode

1b. increase the height of the selected vertices in Visual Mode

2. use @jval 's terrain generator DD_Terrain

It's funny, it reminded me of the old 2.5 VoxelSpace engine (games Comanche, DeltaForce).

Just discovered that setting the absolute floor height in the 2D mode right-click box unlocks all the vertices at once so I don't have to click each and every single one to move a group together. I can now just scroll-wheel my way around the entire map and shape everything like putty without worrying about accidently popping triangular floor or ceiling sectors.

Thanks to everyone who replied... I think I stumbled over what I was looking for by accident lol
