Papyesh Posted June 19, 2024 Hello guys! I'm new here and I want to show you my first 4 levels long WAD for Doom 2. I only wanted to make 1 level to test out the tools but I had so much fun making it that it kind of got out of control. I'd love to get some feedback from y'all, especially when it comes to map03 and 04 as they're the ones I've been making with much more knowledge about the tools. The WAD has been tested only with GZDoom, so I recommend using that. Info about the WAD: 1. Port needed: GZDoom 2. # of levels: 4 3. IWAD: Doom2.wad 4. Difficulty levels: Yes, but probably either too hard or too easy on Hurt me plenty or below. Ultra Violence shouldn't be too difficult for someone that finished Doom 1 and 2. 5. Length: 30-45 minutes infestation.zip 5 Quote Share this post Link to post
NenapoMinayuChtchiyasya Posted June 19, 2024 (edited) A really praiseworthy WAD. The first three levels seemed routine. Some places were questionable, like just leaving one archvile alone, which is easy to avoid on the last maps. As well as a bunch of crowds of monsters that can cope on their own by smashing each other, sometimes I just ignored them, so as not to waste health, ammo, and time. Most of all I liked the last map, although I still did not really understand what kind of pipes I was lifting or what was happening in the rooms with one button. But in general, the last map deserves special respect, it really impresses and fascinates with its chaos and hellishness. That's what I'm talking about. Update: To be honest, I'm a little shocked by the complexity of the construction using portals, oblique planes and all that. I can't do anything like that yet. It doesn't look like the usual baby's first WAD at all. Edited June 19, 2024 by NenapoMinayuChtchiyasya 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

I agree with the maps 1-3 being not that good, I might rework them in a future. In the last map the buttons that raise the pipes next to them when pressed are used to raise the 2 platforms in the middle part of the map, where the portal is. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
LadyMistDragon Posted June 20, 2024 Sooo....I sort of glossed over the previous 2 maps because of Mina's commentary above (listen, I COULD say the whole name but I doubt she would expect it from literally anyone, so it's fine.....and yes, it could use a little improvement but there are still some nice visual ideas that can be located thorughout There's nothing that indicates in Map 03 the way to progress is behind the structure we start at. 04 is easily the best but even that suffers from a certain lack of focus in both monster placement and in the random shapes of rooms and quite a bit of visual signposting as well. This could be good, but it kind of drags to play as of now. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
