Mr.Doggo Posted June 21, 2024 Hello. I am new to the Doom community, so I apologize for my lack of knowledge on the topic. I recently downloaded VirtualMidiSynth because I saw this really cool soundfont online, and I wanted to use it in Doom. I saw this video by youtuber Doomkid on how to set Virtual up (I don't know if that had anything to do with it). Anyway, the font worked with no major issues, but the Sound Effects vanished COMPLETELY. I went to setup and changed the sound options and even got rid of the music entirely, but the effects were still gone. I went to VirtualMidiSynth and reverted the configurations I saw in the tutorial, but the sound effects were (and are) still gone. Does anyone know how to fix this? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Shepardus Posted June 21, 2024 I don't remember if this is still an issue on Windows, but you should open the Windows volume mixer (right-click the volume icon in the taskbar) and check if it's muted the Crispy Doom process. Aside from that I'm not sure what the issue might be (never used VirtualMidiSynth myself). If your goal is just to use a specific soundfont, Crispy Doom supports Fluidsynth as one of the MIDI playback options nowadays, so if you select Fluidsynth in the setup program it should give you the choice to select a soundfont directly. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
plums Posted June 21, 2024 You could also try moving crispy-doom.cfg and default.cfg somewhere else, so that Crispy Doom generates a fresh config when it starts, and see if that fixes the problem. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Mr.Doggo Posted June 22, 2024 Sorry, none of those options worked, but I will try Fluidsynth 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
mikeday Posted June 22, 2024 You didn't mention it, but can you confirm that you're running the latest released version of Crispy? It should be 6.0. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
