Alientank Posted May 7, 2003 http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NDcx Damn, I will be using this chip instead of the 2100+ AIUHB for sure. I could hit 3.6 ghz or so with a HUGE FSB like around 300 (X4 which is 1200) with my SLK-900 and tornado 92 mm that I'm getting. It also has hyperthreading let's not forget. It's been guestimated to be retailing at $180-200 US which is a sweet price. If anything my comp will be limited in Doom 3 by my 9800 pro then by my chip. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Radea` Posted May 8, 2003 Yeah, they arent bad :). I just ordered a 1700+ tbred ($50 :) ), It should be here on Friday. Im hoping for 2400MHz :P :) Edit: As for the video card bottleneck, well yeah. Any card at launch should be limiting Doom3's frame rates, not the CPU. Remember, this isnt the Unreal engine here, Mr. Carmack usually puts out engines that are coded correctly :). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
NailGunner Posted May 10, 2003 I was just checking out some reviews on Anandtech about the Pentium 4 3.0C. (The only thing to do when one has to work on a Saturday...) The processor bus increase yields a notable performance gain, but nothing that completely blows my socks off. A tempting option, but I'm still watching the price drop on the Athlon XP 3000+. Intel is a bit rich for my blood. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Makes sense IMO. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I've been tracking the 3000+'s price drop for a few months now, and although the introduction of AMD's 64 bit processors didn't have quite the effect that I was hoping for, it's still going down. I agree with you though, but seeing how I already ordered that ASUS A7N8X Deluxe in anticipation, I'm somewhat stuck on that route. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
