Crix Posted May 16, 2003 dismalbio said:i'm sure there will be gibs... they're probably just not showing them in the video for the same reason they don't show people getting their heads chopped off in commercials for horror movies. people of all ages will see it. yeah, and there's no blood in the e3 movie either. they've definately just left the gibbing out. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Alboroto Posted May 16, 2003 I saw a picture with a zombie and a chainsaw... that had tons of gibs 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Well I know for certain blood is in there I'v played the alpha but, If Id was dumb enough to leave blood out which they havent thankfully I would of sent a mail bomb to them and not bought the game. As for gibs I think they will be in, I have been hearing alot about gib models inside of the demon models so I think the gore will be in. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
EVIL Posted May 17, 2003 yo =MACVILE \/\/HORE=, get a life. how in the focking hell do you get 2535 post's in just 6 days. go out of your house, not sit on this forum 24-7 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
revenant_fister Posted May 17, 2003 There will be gibs, that is not the question. The question is, will they be good, meaty Quake style gibs, or will they be gay Quake 2 or 3 style gibs? If only ID would make it like Resident Evil, where you have a few limited, but damn cool nasty deaths.. like you can either blow a zombie's head off, or blow it in half. That shit wouldn't be as hard to do as dismemberments, but it would still rule. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

GODDAMN MORON, I HAD MY OLD ACCOUNTS POSTCOUNTS ADDED ON TO MINE!. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
999cop Posted May 17, 2003 I actually liked Quake3's gibbing style, pieces of corpses spread everywhere in air, talk about the gloriness. If you have seen the Legacy movie and notice Carmack's speech in the video, there shouldn't be any doubts on this matter. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
ParaBellum Posted May 18, 2003 I did notice some gibs in one screenshot, but they were rather large pieces of the body. I'm guessing having too many smaller body parts will bring down the fps too much, with all those extra shadows that need to be drawn. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Pfft, Quake gibs sucked just as much as the gibs in the other Quakes - gimme something more remiscent of Doom's gibs and I'll be all happy. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
12ga. Posted May 19, 2003 Yea Doom was very gorey hell your enemies would just turn to mush when hit with a rocket, they need gibs in doom 3 were your enemies are shreaded up and bone's, intestine's, muscel tissue and the likes hanging out. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
cloud4me Posted May 24, 2003 http://doom3maps.ngz-network.de/d3x/files/downloadimages/revenanttranse32k3.jpg looks like Doom3 has some gibbing effect. I think the body behind Revanent looks Zombie Commando without upper part. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Scabbed Angel Posted May 24, 2003 I hope they bring back the gibbige from Quake or Quake 3. The meaty chunks and flying body parts. Has anyone heard if you will be able to blow off parts of monsters? I thought I read that somewhere maybee a year ago. That you could blow off zombies limbs and they'd still crawl after you or something 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Dark-tenshi Posted May 25, 2003 I like the soud effect of gibbage in DOOM.that made it much more satisfying than Quake`s. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
deathbringer Posted May 25, 2003 The gibbing in quake 2 was amazingly shit, you could gib people with the fucking machine pistol!, while it could be done in real life, you'd have to empty about 5000 bullets into someone before it did, That and i like areas that ive been through to have a "fought over" feel with dead bodies laying everywhere, but gibs vanish after a while. I reckon the gore in doom 3 will probably be like a less extreme version of SOF2, where you can make individual bullet holes in enemies that appear where the bullet went in (i know this will be in doom 3 for a fact), but not stupid like a single pistol shot can take off someone's arm. Also, there should be "partial gibbing", like if a rocket lands to the left of a zombie they get thrown through the air, and thier arm gets torn off, the leg gets mashed and genarlly the side of them that was closest to the blast gets torn up and burnt and stuff, but they only fully gib if its a direct hit, or a massive explosion 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

The partial gibbing idea is badass - /me likes. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Reminds me of those mutilated bodies in Saving Private Ryan. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
dsm Posted May 27, 2003 Partial gibbing would definitely be something new - something we've never seen before in an fps. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Fredrik Posted May 27, 2003 Partial gibbing sounds like The Gimmick of the next generation engines. It's very unlikely to show up in DOOM 3 as it'd (the way I see it) require a lot of fundamental changes and extra work. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Scabbed Angel Posted May 27, 2003 dsm said:Partial gibbing would definitely be something new - something we've never seen before in an fps. Haven't you ever played AvP? You can blow off sections of limbs and body parts. They die too quickly after that though. I hope they have that ability in DooM III. It would be great to launch a rocket or grenade at a zombie and think its done only to have the torso and maybee an arm or two dragging itself after you. Fucking creepy 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
sargebaldy Posted May 27, 2003 dsm said:Partial gibbing would definitely be something new - something we've never seen before in an fps. hahahaha, wait, you're serious? SoF and SoF2 had a lot of this... you could hack off legs and arms and heads all you wanted. even in the chasm, which was from around '96 or so, you could blow off monsters arms and legs and watch them fall to the ground. this is hardly a new thing. i'm surprised that not all fpses have this yet. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Dismemberment and partial gibbing is not the same - we're talking about part of the body being fubar'ed, not about limbs being blown off. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

AirRaid Posted May 27, 2003 UT 2003 had partial gibbing if I remember correctly. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
insertwackynamehere Posted May 27, 2003 Trust me, there will be gibbing. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

If they're having a guys insides being ripped out on a bathroom floor, they're going to have gibbing! Anyway, what's a "top of the line" game going to look like, when a guy's shot by a rocket launcher, and falls to the ground, like he's been shot with bullets? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
