mawcor624 Posted May 21, 2003 what exactly is environment mapping? what was the env.jpg for? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
timmie Posted May 21, 2003 It's for mapping a texture on a surface where the texture coordinates are view-dependant. Spherical environment mapping makes things look shiny, which is what ZDoomGL uses (using the env.jpg image). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
mawcor624 Posted May 22, 2003 Aah, so that's why the water and poison looked so much cooler after I put the env.jpg in the right folder? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
timmie Posted May 22, 2003 No, the water and nukage looks cooler due to the animation blending :) The environment mapping is only used on mirrors right now, so you'll have to grab a wad that uses mirrors. Here's a little example map that has a mirror in it: http://zdoom.notgod.com/zdkb/mirror.zip 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
