I'd certainly download 300 MB of a demo (1-2 hours for me depending on the server). But yeah, it's a shame that Internet connection speed isn't increasing in the same pace as the hard drives.

A lot of people wouldn't download a 300MB demo. I would, sure, but other wouldn't.

Demos appear on the cover CD's of games magazines as well. And some websites put the file on a CD if you pay a few $ for it. I know, both ways it will cost you some money, but so does a cable/adsl connection.

Companies are not going to wait for people to upgrade to cable or DSL just because you cant afford it or it is not available. Just the way it is. *kisses cable modem*

I forgot to mention that the cheapest and easiest way to obtain a demo is to have a friend with similar interests who downloads the file and burns it to CD-R for you.

oh . . . you . . . bastard. . .

Out of all the PC magizines out there that have covered Doom³, PC Gamer seems to have had the most, I wonder if perhaps they will inclue a demo on their cd? Or if there's a mag that covered Quakecon. I have dial-up, but if it comes out there'll be some way to get it. Either that or wait. A lot of people, including me have gotten a taste already *coughalphacough* I can only imagine how much better a demo or the full version will be.

They will, but it takes them a while to do it. So, when it's released, PCG won't publish it for at least two months.

Bah at big file sizes, im on 56k but i either:

1-am very patient, and use a manager

2-get friends with broadband to download it and burn it for me (hey, he never did give me my asian gay porno's...)

There was some site i went to a while back for people who made games with stuff like multimedia fusion/the games factory, and everytime someone uploaded something over about 7 megs there was always some twats ranting about "nobody will download that, and i know teh 3v3rything!!!1"

Oh, and the content of the demo will probably be the same as the alpha, just tidied up with "Hah, that'll show you, you fuckers!" writen on a wall somewhere
