fraggle Posted August 15, 2001 THIS is your typical Marylin Manson fan. Do you mean like this (my brother and his friends :) ) I used to listen to it myself a year or so ago, but nowadays I cant stand it. 0 Share this post Link to post
Liam Posted August 15, 2001 THIS is your typical Marylin Manson fan. Do you mean like this (my brother and his friends :) ) I agree with deadnail, I hate guys like that. Marilyn's music is just music with a makeup covered goth singing it, I dunno what drives these guys to act and dress like they do... I used to listen to it myself a year or so ago, but nowadays I cant stand it. Well I hope you were a tolerable fan like me and didn't run around looking like your brother does... 0 Share this post Link to post
deadnail Posted August 15, 2001 But that's his MUSIC I'm mostly interested in :)Good. =) I knew I wasnt the only smoker here!So is Fod but he's on Zyban tryin' to quit. I hope it works out for him, everyone I know thats tried Zyban has sucessfully quit. That's probably the road I'll take too. You can't bash half the songs on AS if you listen to the first SYL record. Skin Me and Drizzlehell were worse than any AS stuff, The Filler was more repetitive, along with songs like Cod Metal King and Goat which have less variety than any AS track, and I guess I could throw Happy Camper in there as well and put it right alongside the opener for AS. Musically, that is.God, I haven't listened to Skin Me and Drizzlehell in years. I took all three SYL albums and made one decent CD out of it. Japan and Centipede are awesome tracks and I'd love to hear a studio version of Far Beyond Metal (even though it's the cheesiest). I listen to SYL for some fast paced metal with a solid groove in it, I don't listen to it for musical satisfaction. Compare that to AS which is chronically slow and the whole thing is damn near grooveless. When music is on my mind I turn to one of many bands... Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode, VAST, Ocean Machine (no one really likes this album but me I think), and of course Dream Theater. I've got 80 compact discs in my car, I know I'm forgetting some good bands. You haven't really lived until you've done this: A. Roll two joints B. Smoke the first one C. Put on Justin Hayward - View from the Hill /or/ Dream Theater - Scenes from a Memory, loud, and through good speakers D. Smoke the second joint E. Get totally absorbed into the music Any wonderful CD will fit there. Usually I just got stoned to Pink Floyd and Def Leppard like most people did. Getting wasted to VAST is pretty good too. You're talking to the "goth" you mentioned above, I hope...Of course. Do you mean like this (my brother and his friends :) )OH GEEZ OH FUCKIN' WHAT THE FUCK?! IS THIS A HALLOWEEN SHOW OR WHAT? ARE THESE GUYS? I CAN'T TELL UNDER ALL THE MAKEUP. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG HERE? CHRIST. 0 Share this post Link to post

pilottobombadier Posted August 15, 2001 Marilyn Manson, to put it as simplistically as possible, is an Alice Cooper wannabe ixnay a modecama of class...well, maybe not so simple, but that's really all he is: A pessimistic hate-the-world sir/madam bitch-a-lot. And Scenes from a Memory is a kickass CD, although I like Change of Seasons a lot, too. And Falling into Infinity is really good, too. And when it comes to culture, deadnail, I totally agree. You really cannot buy it or experience it from a material viewpoint. You have to be it, nothing more or less, and therefore actually willing to understand it. 0 Share this post Link to post

fraggle Posted August 15, 2001 Well I hope you were a tolerable fan like me and didn't run around looking like your brother does... I'd like to think I was. I certainly never wore make up or drew scary pictures of eyes in ms paint, printed them out and stuck them on my bedroom wall 0 Share this post Link to post
