DoomRater Posted December 23, 2003 Woot! I never thouhgt I'd see code running like this before! I feel like even Half-life is getting a run for money at this point (can't you tell I'm biased?) Blazing fast refresh rates are the real noticable upgrade to 60. Plus it's stil using the standard ini files, so upgrade is a snap. All your original settings will still be there, plus you can take advantage of the new ones. This is a big stickler for me, who has spent more time writing his aliases and keybindings than actually playing! Well, I'm pretty wrapped on the new one. I've rarely had problems with 2.0, and 60 is just another nice update. The thing I like is that it still works with my current loader, so I don't need to make a new one yet. Hey, if you have probs with 2.0 versions, maybe it's the OS. I'm running 98 and it works fine over here. My guess is that there's somehting on the OS that needs attention? And for my record, I don't like XP, mainly for eating up a gigabyte of storage for drivers that I'll probably never want to use. Specially cd writers... I use NERO ****it! Besides, until I need a pentium 4 I won't need it anyway. Unless a linux ZDoom is ready, and then I'd be ready to head over and try some of that apple. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
boris Posted December 24, 2003 IIRC uncapped fps were already in 47i. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
exl Posted December 24, 2003 Never had problems? Random crashes here as long as I can remember with ZDoom. And that's also on Win98SE *and* XP Pro. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
boris Posted December 24, 2003 Maybe you ran Legacy by accident? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
exl Posted December 24, 2003 heh, no. Never had any problems with that. The opposite seems to be true for the biggest part of the community though. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DooMBoy Posted December 24, 2003 If Legacy doesn't crash for you all the time and yet ZDoom does, there's something seriously messed up with your computer :P 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DoomRater Posted December 24, 2003 To be truthful, my computer didn't have crash when using Legacy, but it did run slower because I didn't have the rioght equipment to use it. Now I do, and might consider having it around, jsut to see wht comes of it. BTW, Doom Connector was the last thing I installed befoer my computer stopped working. I just turned it back on today. Augh. (scrambles for a 98 install CD and a CD-Rom drive) Edit: I'm running Windows 98 under Program Manager. How sad. But at least I can play ZDoom! By the way, I just found out something that miffs me now: a BUG FIX leads to me having guns that can shoot really far now. You know what this means? the whole chaingun is for short-mid range thinking is obslete. Now that I can use it to snipe, I don't think I will EVER use that plasma rifle. At least not until I have to. Solid ammo forever! O_o (how is making the solid ammo reach into distance it shouldn't be able to a bug fix? Unless it was always able to reach that far in original Doom and I just never knew about it. But now I have such riduculous range for this weapon and I'm just like "Huh? How am I shooting things that far away from me?") Oh yes, and sorry for not being able to type very well at the moment. Still annoyed by my computer's recent behavior. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
