April Fool's Days?

In quite a short online article (let's call it a blurb), PC Zone Magazine's columnist Stuart Bishop gives his two cents about the widespread rumor stating that Doom 3 would be released on April 15.

Activision's UK arm issued a stock response of "no comment" when queried about the date earlier, but reliable informants close to company rubbished the suggestion that the game would release on the suggested date.

Too bad the rumored date is not April 1. Now what to think?

fp! That's a dumb release date. I mean if that were true there would be ALOT more doom3 information on the net. And we'd hear about a beta or something. And there are alot of fake release dates floating around lately. From what i've heard it will be released at the end of the year. Sorta like the original doom

Personally I think we should all try to believe it'll be out in time for Christmas; that way we're far more likely to be pleasantly suprised when it comes out "early" than immensely disappointed when it comes out "late".

Personally I don't mind exactly when it comes out - even though I can play it now, I've got plenty of other stuff to do (and in any case, it's not gonna stop me from playing and mapping classic DooM). As long as it doesn't become another Duke Forever/4th Prodigy album, then it's fine.

Just a reminder to everyone that the official release date for DOOM 3 is "when it's done".
If you hear a release date from _anyone_ outside of id, then you should presume it to be false.
There have been some rumors floating around about this already, and I expect there will be more
between now and the time that you first see someone from id update a .plan file with the news
that the game has been finished. Don't believe them.
