DooMBoy Posted May 31, 2004 True, I suppose. But then I considered the overall quality of Doom2's maps and that made me laugh. :P Even moreso when you consider the vast majority of Doom2's maps were made by Mr. Peterson and IMO, there's some real stinkers in there. But I apologize. To each his own :) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Aleaver Posted May 31, 2004 No one metion me?? darn!! LOL j/k. I have not made enough maps to be even remotely known by anyone anyway..But I have do have some personal favorites.. 1. Id Software --> no shit eh? 2. Team TNT 3. Fanatic 4. Hellbent 5. Fredrik 6. Pablo Dictter and others i can't think of atm.. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Volte Posted May 31, 2004 I don't know about right now, but for the most part, the original Doom maps suck (obvious exceptions are E1, and Romero's contributions to Doom 2). Pretty much anything Sandy Petersen did is just god awful (though I like some of his Doom 2 maps and parts of UDoom E2). Oh, and American McGee's Doom 2 stuff is good too (Too bad it's all in a row at the start of the game. Would have liked to seen it more spread out). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I had it on my Best Of Doom pages that I must redesign. heh) Jan Van der Veken Ola Bjorling Stphrz Dr Sleep Gwyn Williams Erk Alm American McGee Brain hurting now.... theres others but heh. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

It's just a matter if you have released memorable WADs before or cool WADs recently. Else nobody will think of you :P At least I got mentioned by 3 people in the other thread ;) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

The Ultimate DooMer Posted June 2, 2004 Doom Dude said:You'd get mentioned before I would. :p As indeed, he would before me as well (my wads are too unconventional to be considered great, and I certainly don't release them very often). Although I have been mentioned twice already, which is quite surprising. iori said:Whats coming in December? Super Sonic DooM (hopefully). Oh wait, better change that... (as even a big ZDoom megawad will get squashed by one of the most-hyped wads around) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Grazza Posted June 3, 2004 Shtbag667 said:Holy shit! I've been recognized! Why not? You're good. Some other people think so too - check out the Stigmata reviews here. Your megawad is currently right at the top of my list of "projects I'm looking forward to". You might get more recognition if more of your wads were in the archive. They're kind of hidden away at DWS. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

188DarkRevived Posted June 4, 2004 Well, some of my favorite mappers are: Team TNT (Final Doom) Ola Bjorling (Darkening e1 and e2) ACE Team (Batman DOOM) Mark Klem (MementoMori II) John "Gestalt666" Bye (Darkening e1) Michael Raymond-Judy (Heretic/Hexen series) I could probably list some more, but I'm too lazy and I'll probably run out of time :) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Tormentor667 Posted June 4, 2004 I think this thread has been misunderstood in some way :( Don't forget: If someone asks for your favorite mapper, he doesn't mean a person, which is very popular and well known in the community. I even think, that some of you haven't even played some maps of his "favorite" ;) Well, here are my favorite ones, not because they are popular, just because I played their maps more than only one time ;) - Kurt Kessler (I played his complete KZDoom series with great pleasure) - ACE Team (I played Batman Doom a hundred times :)) - "2002 : Doom Odysee" Team (I play this one still from time to time) - ReX Claussen (but just becasue of Darkest Hout and Dawn : Prelude, I don't like his other work *g*ü) - Ramon Mujica (Final Fantasy Doom 2, yes, it is badly mapped but I like the created atmosphere and I love playing it :)) - Roger Ritenour (for "Phobos", the 4 level wad with interesting tricks concerning real 3D, also great atmosphere) - Cyb (not for Zort but for Massmouth, because it has a great replay value) - Laz Rojaz (for Wolfendoom, because it is great, detailed and I can play it every week :) RheinGold is very atmospheric) ...that's it, at the moment I have no other persons in mind. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

In fact, I just plucked names at random out of the 'phone book. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DarkknightXC Posted June 4, 2004 Tough call. Having stepped away from the Doom community for a couple of years, I've found the quality of WADs out there to be of a much higher standard. I actually had games recently I couldn't walk away from. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
188DarkRevived Posted June 4, 2004 Oh, of course. How the heck could I forget Laz Rojas? WolfenDOOM is great. My favorite WolfenDOOM WADs to date are Operation Arctic Wolf (The one about hijacking a submarine in Norway), and Astrostein 3 (The one where Hitler's brain is preserved in a cybernetic chamber and Nazis took over the whole Earth). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
