I do believe that the 'hot topic' thing is related to the DENSITY of the posts... if a poll has 20 replies, but they happen within 2 hours, then its a hot post...if it has 3000 replies over a 30 year period, it probably wouldn't be a hot post.

I figured out what makes a post catch on fire, btw. It's the amount of pages the post has. As soon as it gets 2 pages, it's a hot topic and on fire. So if you set the amount of messages to display on one page to 5, all topics with 6 or more messages will be on fire. I have mine set to 120, so only topics with 121 or more posts will be on fire.

Every U down in Uville liked the U.S. a lot.
But the Binch, who lived far east of Uville, did not.
The Binch hated the U. S! The whole U.S. way!

It could be his turban was screwed on too tight.
Or the sun from the desert had beaten too bright.
But I think that the most likely reason of all,
May have been that his heart was two sizes too small.

He stood facing Uville, the part that was urban.
