The music alone may sound better than the original midis, but when playing the game, the sound effects wipe out parts of the music.

You're comparing old PC fm synthesis (what I was stuck with, sounds like a damned answering machine tune) and 22khz 8 bit 4 channel module sound with good samples (SNES) to a masterpiece Roland sample set (MP2).
