No. That phrase is not in 2001: The Space Odyssey. At least not in the movie. It probably WAS in the book, and it's definitely in "2010" - both book and the movie. On the other hand, "2010" sucked. It's a crappy movie made from a crappy novel.

It's originally in the book 2001, and the quote makes an appearance in each of the next three books as well (sometimes corrupted).

Personally, I think everyone should be required to read Jack L. Chalker so they can see two things:

The dialog line 'My God, it's full of stars!' is from 2010, not 2001, which is why you didn't hear it. Stanley Kubrick trimmed 2001 and added some titles to it only a few days into its 1968 release, but honest to goodness, 2001 is full length.

I know for a fact that it's in the book. I read it a couple months ago. It says something about how the last transmission Earth ever got from David Bowman was "My God, its full os stars." That is, of course, because he was looking into an intetrgalactic gateway.
