pritch Posted September 17, 2005 Doom_user said:I find it odd that you would ban users for asking where to download a rom of a game that hasn't been comercially sold for over 8 years on a system that hasn't been comercially sold for over 4 years. If you consider the Doom 64 rom to be warez and asking where to download it a bannable offense, then should you not also ban every user who has asked where to download the Doom 64 TC? Afterall I believe they extracted all of the sprites, textures, and graphics directly from the Doom 64 rom, so under your logic isn't this also warez? There was evidence offered up by that team that they had permission to use those resources, that did not extend to third parties. Anyway, we don't ban people the world over for warezing things, we ban the asking for it or discussion of it on this forum because amongst other things it's a big no-no with the host. Also, the timescale involved is irrelevant unless the legal circumstances surrounding the product change. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

myk Posted September 18, 2005 WildWeasel said: Not exactly, as you still have to pay to be able to play the game (you need a copy of Doom 2's IWAD file to run the TC). So id Software is still making money from their game and they have no reason to prosecute. You can use Freedoom, and the map designs and artwork are property of Midway Home Entertainment. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Koko Ricky Posted September 25, 2005 I'm interested in what the message is too, but I think you're going to be disappointed if you ever figure it out, because that's all it's going to be: a message. If it were a secret level, a really strange secret room, a hidden sprite, etc., that would be worth investigating. I don't think a single message is worth looking into however. By the way, could someone explain to me what Stop 'n' Swop is? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
ShaneAmp Posted September 27, 2005 i guess this message isnt a texture then? otherwise it woulda been found when making the absolution. In the interview they said it was in the red key room where it played, so maybe its a sound clip. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
jetflock Posted September 28, 2005 its more productive to attack corporations instead of users. we only have each other. everyone acts like they are on the payroll. (regarding rom talk) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
TheLazenby Posted September 29, 2005 I apologize for causing so much trouble, I didn't know it was that big of a deal. Alright, now that that unpleasantness is over with, back to "Doom 64" and the message :-) I tried playing Breakdown with wireframe, but couldn't find anything; Doom 64 is a mess with wireframe graphics, and trying to see anything out of the norm would be impossible. I'm stumped! But as for Stop 'N' Swop; that was a heavily-talked about feature that would allow users playing "Banjo Kazooie" to pull out the game with the system on and put in another game ("Donkey Kong 64" or "Banjo Tooie") to swap items back and forth. Nintendo thought this was dangerous and stopped Rare, but evidently the first half of Stop N Swop is still in BK, and no one knows how to access it. Trust me, we've been trying for years... the website rarewitchproject.com is devoted to it. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
