Saint_of_Killers Posted October 24, 2001 While colouring the zombieman (comig soon) I thought at the shadows under the sprites in Build Engine (Duke 3D, Blood, ...), so I tryed to make a "transparent" shadow under the playa sprite. I know usually the dithers does'nt work well in Doom, it's only an experiment. If the results are good, we can add the shadow under any standing object (it took me only few minutes to make all the playa). Let me know 0 Share this post Link to post
Lüt Posted October 24, 2001 What's gonna happen when the player or enemy jumps off a ledge? 0 Share this post Link to post
Saint_of_Killers Posted October 24, 2001 Well.. it's only an experiment... it suffit to restore the old sprite. 0 Share this post Link to post
AirRaid Posted October 24, 2001 Yeah. Also, what happens if you're playing it in Edge with shadows on? That'd look dumber. 0 Share this post Link to post
Jon Posted October 25, 2001 not to mention, the shadow would be exactly the same sharpness and orientation no matter what light level or architecture the sprite was near... I think its not a good idea. (going up stairs would look VERY bad) 0 Share this post Link to post
Saint_of_Killers Posted October 25, 2001 Ok, forget everything. Please, Fraggle, don't insert the Saint_of_Killers_shadow_playa.zip in the freedoom.wad 0 Share this post Link to post
fraggle Posted October 27, 2001 Oops, I inserted it yesterday and just noticed this. Can you reupload a copy of the old version? 0 Share this post Link to post
AirRaid Posted October 27, 2001 Heh. Thing is, the shadows are only noticeable in some frames. Still, it does look a bit silly. 0 Share this post Link to post
