Best levels/wads of all time.

1024 is really nice. Kinda similar to 10sector, but instead of it being limited to 10 sectors per map, the "playing area" is all crammed into a tiny 1024x1024 "DOOM Map Unit" square. In most cases, the level design is nothing short of brilliant, though you do need to watch out for bugs. It's no walk in the park, either.

What kind of level/mod is doom.wad? It's probably something fun with new graphics and levels by agent spork or Malcom Sailor... since you couldn't posible be dumb enough to suggest the standalone, commercial doom.wad as a level or mod for Doom.

Aside from most of the wads already mentioned here, I liked Massmouth 2, but I could never get past map12. For some reason this door would never open.

well its something you havent heard of, one of my cousin's crappy wads. it was his first one and he left in the word doom...i did not suggest doom itself, but just one of my cousin's old DM stuff he messed around with.

Simplicity is an okay wad, but it didn't deserve to be placed next to a masterpiece like Scythe 2 in the Cacowards.

To be honest, I bloody effing hate when people get the noticeably dogmatic on the internet. Especially over relatively trivial though still complex (at least to us) matters. I dunno.

Armadosia deserved it more than Simplicity. Now I can mention Classic Episode 2 as well.

Hedrox wasn't a good choice as well. It does imitate Vrack's detailing but completely fails to match Vrack2b's excellent gameplay. In fact it just fails gameplay whatsoever. Belltoll.wad is a lot more interesting.

As for the list:

Scythe 2, KS, Armadosia, SiD, For Whom The Bell Tolls, Crimson Canyon, Total Control, Enjay's Operation Overlord, Italian Doom, and a tie between Zaero and Vae Victus.

I left out DT3 and CE2 because they came after the Cacowards.

Well, no matter how much I hate to agree with Belial on something (heh), I would have to say that my Simplicity does not come anywhere close to the greatness of Scythe 2. That wad is a masterpiece in every way, and I can only begin to dream of ever making maps of that magnitude. It's definitely one of the best WADs I've ever played, and will probably ever play. Simplicity has a lot of shortcomings, and Scythe 2 has almost none at all.
