Play old Doom2 1.666 demos?

How can i play old demos? For DooM2 Ver 1.666 Is there any way to get it work?

That shouldn't be too difficult. Just grab the 1.666->1.9 upgrader and apply the patch in reverse to your 1.9 WAD.

This might be a little bit simpler.

Presumably you only need this if the demos you want to watch are on the iwad maps themselves, or if you want the 1.666 doom2.exe (which can of course be used to watch 1.666 demos).

In some cases it's enough to just change the version byte - to replace 'j' with 'm'. This works in about half of doom2 IWAD maps and many PWADs (but not all).

Perhaps, but an LMP editor will change the version completely (though naturally not the maps if they are different.)

Um, what do you mean - completely? That one byte is all that is to version AFAIK.

Of course, if one doesn't want to bother with hex (ASCII) editing, using an LMP editor is a better choice.
