myk Posted January 14, 2010 Ghastly_dragon said: Quake 4 finally had realism and story, and they finally gave the Strogg an actual persona, as bad guys, besides "they attack civilizations for very little reason and make them into cyborgs." That can work out great in movies and books, but mostly screws up that beautiful hack n' slash in action games. It can be added to games, if care is made to not make it disrupt the action, but what experience I had with Quake 4 showed the contrary. 0 Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted January 14, 2010 @Ghastly Dragon: Couldn't agree less, the story elements of Q4 was entirely redundant. There's a very strong presence of, yadi yada in the Q4 story. On top of that, the awesome art direction and atmosphere of the original (Q2) is completely gone in Q4. It's like you've been transferred to a completely different universe. ETQW curiously had a completely different art direction that was actually based on the Q2 design. 0 Share this post Link to post
Mr_Rodi Posted March 22, 2010 I do believe that they are working on it, Im sure that they are head hunting for more staff to work on it which is how i ended up finding out that doom 4 is in the pipeline. 0 Share this post Link to post

Quake 2 hardly even had a story, same environment the whole game just shooting things. Quake 4 at least added on to the story and each facility you were in was different enough from the other to keep it interesting. Quake 2 was just a 3D Doom to me. The BFG didn't help, either :P I personally think Q4 is an, overall, better game than Q2. 0 Share this post Link to post

I thought Quake 1 was bland and uninteresting and Quake 2 just wasn't really that fun in my opinion for many reasons, such as the fact that firing the weapons felt like firing a be-be gun. It sucked. 0 Share this post Link to post
