Timidity?

Does Eternity support playing music via Timidity and if so what do I have to do to get it to work? I have timidity and a working set of patches (eawpats from the idgames archive) that both Chocolate Doom and PrBoom are using fine, but when I run Eternity I get no music even when "music card" is set to "SDL Mixer".

Debian GNU/Linux, Eternity SVN revision 420. My sound card does not, as far as I know, support regular MIDI playback for whatever reason (at least I never recall it working). I do seem to recall music working in an older version of Eternity but that was some time ago and I may have been on a different distro at that time.
