kristus Posted February 20, 2009 It's just of the first map, and it's not even of the entire map. Thanks for fearing my "Arch vile face". :D 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
188DarkRevived Posted February 21, 2009 Looks like there's going to be some very kinetic gameplay in this WAD. Thank goodness that the quicksave feature is present to save the day. ;) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted February 21, 2009 Well, there will be skill levels. And the easiest skill level is pretty damn easy so if you don't feel up to it you can just kick it down a notch or two and enjoy the ride. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
CodenniumRed Posted February 23, 2009 Looking good! The video makes it easier to see as the screenshots appear very, VERY small on my computer. :P 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Naan Posted February 23, 2009 At least, the first level doesn't seem to follow the "short, unexiting, boring" pattern that most episode wads or megawads apply in their first(s) level(s). *digs* 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted February 25, 2009 Screenshot time: Map 2. (WIP, so is the stat bar) http://www.doglike.org/temp/Screenshot_Heretic_20090225_005431.gif Keep in mind. If you don't like it I don't like you. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
esselfortium Posted February 25, 2009 Nice, I like the arch on the right :) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted February 25, 2009 The arch? I see you're mocking me. :p Maybe I should try to actually impress people with the screenshots. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Cupboard Posted March 2, 2009 I've been meaning to post here but I forgot for several days. That was an intriguing gameplay video, nice work on that. I especially like how you have those sabreclaws (clinks, whatever you call them) just kind of wandering around the map. Good that you let them be free-range and not stuck in some monster closet or narrow corridor. :P 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted March 2, 2009 I, too, find cramped monster closets to be inhumane; and for that reason I only buy eggs that come from free-range sabreclaws. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted March 3, 2009 Eggs doesn't come from Sabreclaws. They come from Iron Liches. :p Thanks. :) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Ghastly Posted March 4, 2009 Looks really good. :D I can't wait to see this played on Skulltag's Survival mode. It'll be a nice change of pace from the vanilla Heretic maps, and the Doom 2 megawads. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted March 21, 2009 Sooo. A wonderful thing happened today. As I was staring into the wall waiting for sleepy time, my brother messaged me on MSN. He said you got the apartment you're moving in in June. And I was really stoked about this. Even though I currently got no means of supporting myself I am expecting that to have been fixed by then at least. If not I will be in deep shit no matter what. So I decided to celebrate this rare occasion of good things happening to medium-rare-good-person-me. I started with whipping up a nice filet and strips dinner. So as I'm frying the meat I wait for the strips to get finished. And it's taking it's sweet time so I set the stove on a low setting to keep it warm and then go to fuck around with my Heretic add-on. Then of course completely forget all about it long enough for me to manage to make the meat and stripes to have a texture similar to that of pine cones and twigs. So I'm currently feasting on this grand delicacy which I must say is twiggylischious and I'm somehow still in a good mood and I am doing something I've kind of wanted to do but then again not really no for a while now. And that is to release some new screenshots of the other maps I got in prawgrass for my oobar leet Heretic thingamajing. There are 3 maps in three shots. Map2 Map3 and Map6... strangely enough. They are in reversed order of completedness. That is. Map6 is almost entirely complete. Map3 is getting there and Map02 is the one that is pretty much up in the air at this moment. (Got some lose ends that I have no fucking idea what to do with them.) ANYWAY, enough talking. Here are shots of which you will surely find me worthy of at least 30% of all possible categories of Nobel prices available. (or not) Map2 Map3 Map6 BTW: Map02 is originally a Doom map made for a project that eventually fell apart, and Map06 is what used to be my submission to the Heretic Treasure Chest project that I decided to leave before the map was done and submitted. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
esselfortium Posted March 21, 2009 My eyes popped out of my head when I saw the map06 shot. That looks absolutely amazing. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
JadedLexi Posted March 22, 2009 I agree with everything esselfortium has said. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted May 4, 2009 I'm currently w/o internet. But I got it for a few seconds right now so I decided to spend this time here making a little status update, because your attention is all that really matters to me. Following are some arbitrary numbers of map completion. More or less pulled out of my ass. (aka estimashuns) Map01: 99% Map02: 90% Map03: 75% Map04: 20% Map05: 0% Map06: 95% Map07: 0% Map08: 15% Map09: 95% Ah, well. I suppose that's all I had time for. Or could think of. Whatever. Now I have to go to the toilet. I can feel something moving inside my rectum. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Sporku Posted May 4, 2009 I've always loved your maps, especially because you've always taken a different approach to gameplay than most people. Glad this time around you're making something that isn't for an engine that will arbitrarily crash if you look at it the wrong way (*cough*, legacy). Maps are looking quite awesome, with some really great architecture. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Dutch Doomer Posted May 4, 2009 Damn I thought you were gonna do one map, nine maps is even more awsome. Map06 almost made my eyes pop out, nice work! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted May 5, 2009 Thanks. I'm doing my best to make it work on as equal as possible on as many ports as possible. I'm hoping Eternity will come out soon with an Heretic version so I can test it with that thoroughly. So far, the only thing that doesn't work is the sky is fucked up in Legacy Software mode. I can fix it, but I'm not entirely sure I should. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Fulgrim Posted May 5, 2009 I can sum up my feelings about this project in two words, Bad ass. Its nice to see Heretic getting some love. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Udderdude Posted May 5, 2009 I'm willing to do some map testing. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted May 8, 2009 Hey. Got to an internets again.. Still making progress... Looks like JHeretic support may have to go though. But I'll look into it in time. See if it can be resolved. I might get this finished a lot sooner than I had expected really. @Udderdude: Duly noted. Which port will you be testing it in? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Udderdude Posted May 9, 2009 I usually test in zDoom, but if you have another port you want me to test it with, I can try it out. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
printz Posted May 9, 2009 kristus said:Looks like JHeretic support may have to go though. That is, no more JHeretic support or it will be required? In the latter case, good luck with hi-res texture drawing (so that new ones mix fine with hi-res versions of originals), though I think you're capable. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
esselfortium Posted May 9, 2009 He means no more, though even if this was supporting that, what gives you the idea he'd have any intent to add new resources for specific usage alongside a completely unrelated sourceport addon? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
printz Posted May 9, 2009 If it required JHeretic (and couldn't run anything else), he'd have the freedom to add stuff that only work on that, and include map elements that help better. Aren't hi-res textures > lo-res textures (not strictly by filesize)? For me they are, the such Heretic versions didn't damage anything (they didn't have anything to damage anyway :) ). And if it could be done, why not? kristus: Nice surprise this is going to be a whole episode, and you've been working quite fast too. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Vermil Posted May 9, 2009 Well, it would be nice to know why this apparently vanilla compatible add-on is "no longer feasible" on Doomsday? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted May 9, 2009 Well. I'm not sure. But the version I have of Doomsday (dating back to 2003 though, the last version I downloaded wouldn't run) doesn't support Voodoo dolls. I had this issue with Legacy. But I managed to resolve it. Of course Graf Zahl moans about it, because he's worried that it might end up causing issues for Zdoom in the future. But if I had to worry about that, I wouldn't be able to do anything fun and still keep it cross port compatible. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
