Music isn't made for people obsessed with production and engineering, it's made for people who like music.

Top that, Lüt.

So that you actually see WHY you say Reznor's engineering is shit, Lüt (from mtv.com, shoot me):

I'm not exactly sure what you meant, but realize I'm not criticizing him as a person, I'm just judging the products he puts out and nothing else.

The thing he can't seem to stop doing is recording stuff with the volume at 900%. Some people see that as genius or unique; I think it's unbelievably stupid. He's ruined a lot of potentially good songs with his horrible recordings.

I like music, which is why I'm so picky about production and engineering: if music is all about sound and conveying feelings through that sound, how can you stand to listen to a record that has an absolutely horrid recorded-in-an-Oslo-dustbin overall sound to it?

No, people lose their post count when they do something to piss long off

Like calling him Long? :P

Hey, I wasn't bashing BBG's opinion, I was expressing mine. I'll try to make that more obvious next time. He can listen to all the ICP he wants because I know that I'm not buying any albums.

I never really thought about trying Unreal but I saw than Gold and UT came in one package for 20 bucks and couldn't resist.

I lost my first UT match 27-1, but hey...

Return the Castle Woflenstein (starts great, but get's irritating once über soldats show up)
$60
Evil Dead trilogy on DVD (YAY)
Army of Darkness shirt
AFI's first two albums on vinyl (Answer That and Stay Fashionable and Very Proud Of Ya...YAY)
AFI sticker

My old man just ordered a nice post-Christmas present; he finally broke down and is getting a DVD player. So that only puts my family 2 years behind the technology curve. (Beats the hell outta 5 years, which is where we were at before.)

/me shoots Cren and pisses on his grave.
How DARE you mention that name in my presence? :)

Unlike The Fragile, which Reznor criticized for lacking a unified feel...

WTF? What does he mean by unified? If he meant that by the flow of the album, it flowed nicely, better than any other NIN album. If he means that by the style of the songs in relation to each other, I didn't see much of a problem. Besides, if you don't put enough variation in your songs, it can ruin a potetialy great album. For example, Gary Numan's Pure or pretty much any KoRn album. I don't know what else he could be talking about by 'unified'.

I'm not exactly sure what you meant, but realize I'm not criticizing him as a person, I'm just judging the products he puts out and nothing else.

Heh. For some reason I'm reminded by the time you said Reznor cries whnever his napkin dies (whatever the Hell that means).

I know little about mixing/recording, but I thought The Fragile was an awesome CD. I like to just crank the volume and lie on my bed listening to it. Its almost hypnotic.

Heh, well at least he knows.

Compare something like Perfect Drug or the first half of Driver Down to anything on the Fragile and you'll see how much that album is lacking.

Oh, I was just overexaggerating how much he whines :P

Damn, compare those to ANYTHING, and it will seem lacking. Perfect Drug is possibly my favorite song ever, and Driver Down (the whole thing) is one damn awesome song. But I think Fragile was pretty good...it was 10 times better when I saw NIN do some of the songs in concert, especialy when they did La Mer/Great Below...oooh.
