Joshy Posted February 3, 2009 Thanks people, once again. :) For my maps, I try to emphasise more on layout structures and architectures with some sort of classical style amongst it. Expect varieties of unorthrodox layout designs, especially Darkwave0000's maps. I swear he's a natural, he started mapping only recently, and has improved a lot, I envy his designs sometimes. :P Anyways, progress report, doing some sketches for Map13 and 21, got some awesome ideas. Darkwave0000's chugging along nicely. @Mechadon: It would be awesome if you could test it later. ;) At the moment, the beta-testers are pretty quiet, I guess they are quite busy, heh. One screenie to add value to the post: 0 Share this post Link to post
Kyka Posted February 3, 2009 Hey look.... another green screenie. :P Looking really good though. The designs are really original and at the same time they somehow maintain 'classic' kind of feel, which is hard to do imo. Keep up the good work. Am looking forward to this one. 0 Share this post Link to post
Joshy Posted February 16, 2009 *creeps in* Thanks Kyka and butts. :) Here's another screenie, and no, it's not entirely green! :P Despite these green screenies, just gotta remind that the megawad isn't completely green at all, just a nice mixture of themes. Nothing's more enjoyable than changing themes to map with. (although the majority of the first episode will be greenish :P) Map06,13,17,21 have been completed. The project's pretty much halfway now. 16 maps done. *creeps out* 0 Share this post Link to post

Joshy Posted April 24, 2009 Just when you thought it was dead... (/horrorfilmcliche) 0 Share this post Link to post
Reevys Posted April 24, 2009 Looks pretty sweet. I'm glad this isn't dead, I had been looking forward to it since it's announcement. How many maps have you completed now? 0 Share this post Link to post
pcorf Posted April 29, 2009 Looking very good indeed. BTW it amazes me how so many people use the episode 4 sky. E4 sky is used for a few levels in WOS. 0 Share this post Link to post
esselfortium Posted April 29, 2009 Looks good! Echoing the relief that this project is still alive. :) The midtex railing on the right side of the latest shot looks misaligned around the corner, and it might look better with the shorter version of that railing, but otherwise looks good to me. 0 Share this post Link to post
Clusterone Posted April 30, 2009 Hey if you need another beta tester can you sign me up to? Hard maps are siiick :D thanks :D 0 Share this post Link to post
Joshy Posted April 30, 2009 Thanks people. :) @Reevys: So far, 18 maps are completed fully, with many others in the work, we're taking our time now. Now am working on Map27. I've done 12 maps with 4 more to go. Darkwave's finished 6 with 10 to go. We're getting there. ;) @pcorf: IMO, the episode sky 4 is unique, it gives the maps excellent atmosphere, somehow it makes the lightings seem to differ. Nevertheless it is hard to find a nice original sky that is as good as episode 4's. @esselfortium: Misalignment fixed, heh. The shorter version does seem to fit better, thanks for the suggestion. :) @Clusterone: You are quite very welcome to beta-test. If you're up for hard maps then Map32 should be right for you. ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
Clusterone Posted May 1, 2009 Ok thank you Joshy :D Do you have a link to it? or them? I'll let you know if I see any errors or anything too if you want :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Joshy Posted June 5, 2009 Progress has been made! We are getting close to getting all the maps completed, but we're still taking our time as necessary. I have some requests: We'd like to have new graphics for the project to give the megawad a unique/idiosyncratic feel. We need a titlepic, intermission pic and a status bar (is there any more?), would anyone be interested in making them for the project? I'd appreciate it, thanks in advance. :-) 0 Share this post Link to post
Jimmy Posted June 6, 2009 Do you still want me to do the three tunes you ask for for this project? :P 0 Share this post Link to post
Joshy Posted June 6, 2009 Actually that would be great. There are some maps that uses music from other games like Duke Nukem and Hellcore2.0, so your tunes would be greatly appreciated. :3 Thanks. 0 Share this post Link to post
Joshy Posted August 13, 2009 Yay, more progress has been made, and not that much left to do now. Basically, my portion of maps only need some fine tuning/tweaking and heavy playtesting/speedrunning (brace yourself betatesters :P ) while I wait for my other half, Darkwave, to complete some more maps. The graphical part needs completing (Someone is working on the fonts and perhaps the status bar too, not sure if he is covering the titlepic and intermission screen as well, might need someone to help out with that) Music is pretty much done, just waiting on a few more songs. Many thanks to those who has helped us out so far. :-) Realistically, I believe the release date is looking more likely to be done around November. Some more screenies: 0 Share this post Link to post
Gusta Posted August 13, 2009 It's gonna be the Wad of The Year, guys, I have no doubt! (at least what can I say as one of the testers) 0 Share this post Link to post
Dreadopp Posted August 13, 2009 The new screenshots look very nice. I eagerly await it's release. :) 0 Share this post Link to post
40oz Posted August 14, 2009 Wow. I kinda forgot about how good this was turning out. I'm excited. 0 Share this post Link to post
Joshy Posted October 27, 2009 We're inching closer towards completion, inch by inch by inch. Some maps have been completed and some nearly finished. Graphics have been nearly fully replaced, many thanks to Mechadon. It's looking likely the release will be around early December/Late November perhaps. 0 Share this post Link to post
Joshy Posted February 21, 2010 :-) Ladies and gentlemen, the project is completed... well *nearly*. All the maps have been completed, and now awaits the testing stage which should probably go for several weeks before the first public release. We're feeling really good about this megawad, and very happy with our work. It has been a year pretty much which isn't half bad, although it doesn't contribute much to the connotations of the title Speed of Doom, heh (Well, the story and the basic concepts of fast and fresh maps for most plus attention to speed-running/demo recording should be enough to justify it :P) 0 Share this post Link to post
Terminus Posted February 21, 2010 Wow @ First screenshot of last post. I'm glad this is (finally) completed! Looking forward to play this, good luck with the testing. This is gonna be great. :P 0 Share this post Link to post
Gusta Posted February 21, 2010 Ladies and gentlemen, this really IS a project that you can look forward to! Great job Joshy and Darkwave! 0 Share this post Link to post

Philnemba Posted February 21, 2010 I remember reading about this a year ago before joining Doomworld so I'm definitely looking forward to play this soon. 0 Share this post Link to post
Mithral_Demon Posted February 21, 2010 Almost thought this'd be another jokewad, but I'm mistaken, the shots look awesome. 0 Share this post Link to post
gun_psycho Posted February 21, 2010 I can't wait to play this with scoredoom once it comes out. Oh, I'm liking the screenshots 0 Share this post Link to post
