kristus Posted January 11, 2009 Was led to this page by a post over at Doom3world. These are the original hi res version textures from Severance: Blade of Darkness. Drawn on paper with Gouache paints. http://www.davegh.com/blade/davegh.htm efore you use, don't forget to read the Limitations though. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
boris Posted January 11, 2009 Heh, the "limitations" and "examples of permited use" don't make sense to me. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted January 11, 2009 Well. Me neither. But from what I gather it's ok to use it for modding just don't let people take it from your mod and use in their. But direct them to the source. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Sonikku7 Posted January 11, 2009 Some of those would look great in Doom. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
myk Posted January 11, 2009 Timeline, though I can't find on what past thread this was linked to right now. The terms of use seem pretty straightforward. You can't use the stuff outside your creation itself in any way. Gaming stuff must be non-commercial while other stuff can be commercial. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Creaphis Posted January 11, 2009 myk said:Timeline Well, I appreciate this anyway, as we weren't all around in '02. Yeah, the limitations are a little weird. I think that this artist didn't anticipate the .WAD format, in which any used resource is easily ripped by anyone else. Still, I'm sure it's legal to use these textures as long as we don't also include the texture image files outside the wad file or something silly like that. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I think that this artist didn't anticipate the .WAD format, in which any used resource is easily ripped by anyone else. I bet he must be aware some games use the equivalent of ZIPs which are even more straightforward to unpack, so I doubt it. In environments where people respect copyrights, they check what the author permits and don't base their actions on what they can get away with. If not, making copyright requests in regard to text is nonsense, because it can very easily be copied anywhere by various methods. One could request attribution, another the use of necessary fragments only, yet another full use only under certain mediums. None of which is particularly more enforceable. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
CodenniumRed Posted January 12, 2009 These are very well made and would look good in Zdoom. As long as you give him credit, since we're using it in a free thing, it SHOULD be okay. Of course, to play it safe, if worse comes to worse you can just ASK the author about specific use first. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Lord_Z Posted January 18, 2009 Very cool. I am going to bookmark that page for future reference. It looks like you could make some great castles with those textures. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
GreyGhost Posted January 18, 2009 That site has some nice looking textures though some might need a bit of work before they'll tile seamlessly. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
iceman57 Posted January 18, 2009 The unique problem I had to work with his textures was Doom 256c Palette... Also some textures are not patterns and you needed to convert them using a drawing program such as Photoshop. Still surprised to see that this website was not known by the Doomworld community. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

iceman57 Posted January 19, 2009 Craigs said:Pretty sure he meant only. :P Indeed :D Apologies for my english mistakes. Around 50% of textures from "Davegh" website can be directly used in Doom without real modifications of their palettes. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
