Crendowing Posted December 29, 2001 OK, the subject of a possible DOOM movie has been discussed and flamed to Hell every time it was mentioned. I just feel I have to get this off my chest. Everybody knows Bobby Prince's music to both games, right? Well, here's a thought: would that same music be ideal for a soundtrack or score for a movie when and if it ever was released? 0 Share this post Link to post
IMJack Posted December 29, 2001 I think Bobby Prince would do well writing ambiant music for movies. His music really gets you into the fightin' spirit (or the scarin' spirit) in the games. (I see you borrowed my "ignorant || apathetic" thing... Y'know, they came out with a pill to cure ignorance and apathy. Problem is, nobody knows about it, and nobody cares. :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Fredrik Posted December 30, 2001 Why not just let the original artists make the music then, meh :P Oh, why do I care? Damn stupid ideas of a DOOM movie... yurgh 0 Share this post Link to post
Kid Airbag Posted December 30, 2001 If not a movie, BP, Klem, and Tolwyn better do the music for the new game. 0 Share this post Link to post
Rancid-Radio Posted December 30, 2001 the movie should have deathmetal 0 Share this post Link to post
dsm Posted December 30, 2001 Where's the "No, BP's music's too cheesy for a movie" option? 0 Share this post Link to post
Fredrik Posted December 30, 2001 People should learn that movies with metal-only soundtracks always fail... 0 Share this post Link to post
doomsick Posted December 30, 2001 the movie should have deathmetal lol. NO DOOM MOVIE, for the love of pete! 0 Share this post Link to post
Crendowing Posted December 30, 2001 I've just now gotten around to making this suggestion. You know how most if not all past video game movies were rated PG-13 at the highest? Well, I think THAT'S what made them so dumb and corny. IMO, the only way for a DOOM movie to be even the least bit laudable is for it to be rated R at the lowest. Hell, imagine if it was NC-17..... 0 Share this post Link to post
Crendowing Posted December 30, 2001 1 votes (17%) Cren..............go to hell............POST hell :)OK....WHO VOTED FOR THAT ONE???????? 0 Share this post Link to post
IMJack Posted December 31, 2001 IMO, the only way for a DOOM movie to be even the least bit laudable is for it to be rated R at the lowest. Hell, imagine if it was NC-17.....Lots of gore, prolly a lot of sex, unspeakable profanity, and zero plot depth. In other words, your average porno. :P Even with an extreme rating, a Doom movie would still suck. 0 Share this post Link to post
danarchist Posted December 31, 2001 Actually, I think John Carpenter could make an awesome Doom movie. And if you know anything about his movie, you know he loves to do the soundtracks himself. Up till recently, I thought this a bad thing, but I saw Ghosts of Mars last night and it had an awesome soundtrack which fit the movie excelently. Not to mention the movie was about having to kill posessed people on a remote part of Mars. :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Lüt Posted December 31, 2001 Even with an extreme rating, a Doom movie would still suck.No. I could make it good. 0 Share this post Link to post
Kid Airbag Posted December 31, 2001 prolly a lot of sexPlease explain to me how exactly that will fit into Doom. Actually, on second thought, I probably don't wanna know... 0 Share this post Link to post

dsm Posted December 31, 2001 All those monsters had to come from somewhere... They're Hell spawn, meaning that they weren't "born", but spawned (The Icon of Sin/The Baphomet comes to mind). 0 Share this post Link to post
Crendowing Posted December 31, 2001 John CarpenterUmmmmmm, wouldn't that be unoriginal for him? I mean, he has his own ideas (except for maybe The Thing), and would not a make a video game movie. About the soundtrack to Ghosts of Mars, all I heard on the TV spots were (c)rap and hip-hop type tracks. Never seen it, though. 0 Share this post Link to post
Liam Posted December 31, 2001 Even with an extreme rating, a Doom movie would still suck.No. I could make it good. Me too. A lot of people on this board probably could for that matter. 0 Share this post Link to post
Lüt Posted December 31, 2001 A lot of people on this board probably could for that matter.I think the best thing to do for a "Doom Movie" would actually be like different movies - a bunch of different directors get to do their take on it. People can then pick and bicker over which one was better and why. 0 Share this post Link to post

Sounds like it: A couple movies, by different directors, under the same producers. Keep un mind what happened there. 0 Share this post Link to post
Fredrik Posted January 1, 2002 Bad idea. JUST NO MAKE OF DOOM MOVIE AT ALL, OK? 0 Share this post Link to post
Crendowing Posted January 1, 2002 Bad idea. JUST NO MAKE OF DOOM MOVIE AT ALL, OK?I'll suggest this for the 999,999,999th time: Base the first movie VERY loosely on the first novel, and then after that make it have no similarities of the other novels. 0 Share this post Link to post
danarchist Posted January 1, 2002 John CarpenterUmmmmmm, wouldn't that be unoriginal for him? I mean, he has his own ideas (except for maybe The Thing), and would not a make a video game movie. I heard that one famous director said he wanted to make a Doom movie at one point. I forget who it was. It might have been Carpenter, or maybe Clive Barker or someone else. But every great director has to make something unorigional every once in a while. Spielburg did Jurassic Park. Burton did Batman. Gilliam did Fear and Loathing in Los Vegas. Kevin Smith is thinking of making a new Fletch movie (starring Jason Lee). It happens.About the soundtrack to Ghosts of Mars, all I heard on the TV spots were (c)rap and hip-hop type tracks. Never seen it, though. That wasn't Carpenter. Carpenter's music is an ambient yet intense techno sound. His newer stuff even sounds a bit industrial. It's not all that good, but it always fits the movie. 0 Share this post Link to post
Red_Warrior Posted January 1, 2002 Whoever makes a DOOM movie is just asking to be lynched.... erm, not that -I'd- lynch them, but... Anything remotely pointing to a DOOM movie is, and shall always be, very, very bad! Let us never speak of it again. 0 Share this post Link to post
Bane Posted January 1, 2002 IF DOOM MOVIE COMES OUT I REFUSE TO SAY IT EVEN TOUCHES DOOM! i'm sure it sux dix, i'm so damn sure! 0 Share this post Link to post
danarchist Posted January 2, 2002 I could make a good Doom movie, but I have no movie-making skillz, nor would they allow for many violent gore-fests in Hollywood (Rob Zombie is having that problem now). I think someone on Doomcenter is actualy making a Doom movie...they have a poster and everything. I'm interested in what it's going to turn out like. 0 Share this post Link to post
Bane Posted January 2, 2002 You need to make a DOOM-movie: -a gun -and alot of willpower to commit a suicide! 0 Share this post Link to post
