Catpho Posted February 8, 2019 RIP people who thought Sunder was dead and had moved on with their lives. Welcome back!!!! New and veterans Doomers alike are ready to tear through your new beautiful nightmares :))) 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Jayextee Posted February 8, 2019 What a great reason for me to play catchup. Tried Sunder before on HMP; got my ass comprehensively handed to me and my mediocre DOOM skills. Turns out, there are no difficulty settings? Replaying on ITYTD. I can do this! XD 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Spie812 Posted February 8, 2019 I'm at a loss for what to say. This is simply awesome. Welcome back! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

And yeah, I hope you're happy with your legacy that you left for the history of Doom level designing. In all good fun, I look forward to seeing how this second wave of Sunder influences the community. Freakin' great screenshot, btw. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
KVELLER Posted February 8, 2019 So I saw this in the main page and went: "Alright, who was the newbie that bumped the 10-year-old thread this time?" Holy. Shit. I did not see this one coming. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

[McD] James Posted February 8, 2019 You can also add me to the short list of people that haven't played Sunder. Looks really good, from what I've seen. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Insane_Gazebo Posted February 8, 2019 Wow, wasn't quite expecting this many replies! Thank you everyone for the replies. I certainly wasn't expecting to wake up to this many. I had originally been planning on holding off on revealing anything for a while yet, but seeing that DVII was back (a major inspiration for me), as well as a comment in that thread hoping for some news made me figure I better bump what I had with a mysterious screenshot. Without revealing too much, Map 15 is largely finished. Still needs some work on monster placement, plus a major technical fix. That's currently on hold while I work on Map 31 which is coming along pretty well. 14 hours ago, dobu gabu maru said: Great to see that there's more stuff in the works from you, I_G! Really interested in seeing how you've grown and developed from the last time you've mapped. In case you didn't know, we did a community-wide playthrough of Sunder about 5 years back—might be worth a gander if you wanna see how the set has been received in your absence. Hopefully we'll be able to get our hands on whatever you're brewing up sometime soon... I did browse through that just recently! I enjoyed reading through that. Was interesting to see the strong contrast between people who enjoyed what I made, and those that hated some of my maps and wanted to strangle me. (Plus some fair criticisms mixed in there.) 16 hours ago, Alfonzo said: But... the planning permits were written up! We'd just finished erecting an Insane Gazebo at the center of Doomworld commemorating your achievements as though they were final! It's okay, tear it down, guys. it's Monster Condos, now. That's quite funny. Thanks, though! Who knows, maybe me and DVII's return will inspire a bunch of others on that list to return too. :) 46 Quote Share this post Link to post

But I do really like Dark Souls, and played a lot of it, so it's possible I was influenced on some level. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
[McD] James Posted February 9, 2019 (edited) Wow, I've never seen a post on this message board get so many likes in such a short period of time. Well deserved, nonetheless. The environments in Sunder have always looked really kick ass to me. I used to be ambivalent towards slaughter maps, but I'm at a point where I can play through maybe two full-sized slaughter maps on Ultra-Violence in one month without getting at least a little burnt out. I definitely get the appeal though, even though I personally find that spaceship shooters and 2D platformers lend themselves better towards being monstrously difficult. To be honest I haven't played Sunder either (apart from map 1 on ITYTD). But that is because I found it too tough back then(if only Sunder had proper difficulty levels). Now that I have become quite better, I plan to give it another go (Still only on ITYTD tho). On 2/8/2019 at 9:12 PM, Linguica said: Maybe John Romero will make some new maps too!!
