Maes Posted June 11, 2009 I set up my infamous oldskool box with DOS 6.2 and I am running through a refresher of the original episodes. Of course, I went for a WASD + mouse config this time (no going back to keyboard for me...) however at first I was disappointed by the turning rate: the in-game slider set it only as high as 9, which was still very slow compared to source ports....so I set it manually in default.cfg to be higher than that (currently 25) and it worked. Now I am only missing a couple of things: Is there a way to tweak the settings to simulate an "always run" mode? If yes, is it possible to temporarily disable it via the shift/run key? Also, is it possible to disable mouse movement entirely (except for turning)? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
SaladBadger Posted June 11, 2009 1: Check this article at the Doom wiki. It shows a trick for autorun 2: Unfortauntly, using the above trick means it's always on. Shift does not seem to bypass it 3: You can disable mouse movement by using a TSR called novert. You can find it at the idgames archive 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
exp(x) Posted June 11, 2009 You can also use chocolate-setup that comes with chocolate doom to generate vanilla configuration files. It has an option to enable the autorun trick. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Oh yeah, that's right, even the config file chocolate-doom uses is fully compatible with vanilla. Though it does have the same side effect of being completely unable to walk, but I never use that anyway. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
