They always instantly carve my ass apart >.> HackNeyed said:Yeah it's overkill for this but it might come in handy later when extra quality and/or archiving have a high priority. These codecs are generally editor friendly (high-Q, fast seeking, etc) compared to other High-Q Lossy codecs such as Divx or H.264/x264 (MPEG-4 AVC). Yes, file size for Lossless is big but far from massive when compared to raw (yikes!). Midvid JPEG Video Codec is only Lossless at 100% and Lossy at anything less and I might have used 80% or so and it was still great looking with a much more manageable file size. I just miss video editing I guess. So many things I want to get back to doing but they'll all have to wait while I work on my main project, Real Life Yeah, video editing is pretty fun. I've always been a graphic artsy kinda gal. I'm working on a frag video of some Left 4 Dead gameplay with my gaming group, so I've basically given a self-done crash course in advanced video editing, color correction, and all that jazz. My ultimate goal is to make it a nice 30+ fps 1080p production with smooth transitioning, but it's a work in progress. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

It can take a lot of starts to get a run that works with you ... Entertaining vids btw. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Snakes Posted April 13, 2010 Eargosedown... That was pretty entertaining. I gotta say, the ho-hum way you said, "Chaingunner scarin' me" cracked me up. Looking forward to future vids. Map26 was probably my favorite level from AV, so I'm definitely going to watch the vids for that. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
The Green Herring Posted April 14, 2010 My 6:24 UV max on UCA by Eddie Nguyen: And my 6:45 UV max on TALPOIDA by the same author: Watch the rest of the series here. The original demos can be found here. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
HackNeyed Posted April 14, 2010 Very entertaining Mr. Green, thank you! I enjoyed the comment boxes very much though I've only watched the first two three videos and must save the rest for later. If you don't mind I wanted to ask you about the mouse in Dosbox. I didn't notice any lag or difficulty in your videos and I even thought you might be running ZDoom/Choco with the OPL emulator enabled. I get terrible mouse lag in Dosbox and wondered, what are your thoughts on the mouse and your system specs? [rambling] I get a good-ish frame rate (blazing, or choking like a shiny 486) though my system is subpar and I hear low frame rate is the cause of mouse lag. Then again, maybe it's just how it is since I get the same lag in the SDL based EDuke32 engine. I don't know, the windows only Duke3d_w32 is perfectly responsive though as are every Doom port in windows. [/rambling] Anyway, thanks again for the videos and for any comments on the mouse. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

When I recorded the Dinner videos (available from the same channel,) the mouse input was a bit odd, but otherwise, the frame rate was silky-smooth (and still is.) I eventually solved the problem by changing my DOSBox mouse sensitivity settings -- in my case, to 160, to emulate my PrBoom+ settings. The catch is that I have to change it within the program using the command "sensitivity 160;" if I change it within the config file, the result is completely different for no particularly thought-provoking reason. As the relevant setting is under the "sdl" section of the config file, I suspect this is one of the many bugs that plague SDL. You can put it in the autoexec section at the bottom of the config so you won't have to type it in every time you run the program. Anyway, thank you for watching them. I suspected nobody would actually comment on them, like what happened when I posted the Dinner demos here. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
HackNeyed Posted April 15, 2010 That is interesting. I was so tired when I posted I should have spoken more about the (excessive) mouse acceleration. Though EDuke32 and Build games in Dosbox are exactly as I said. So anyway thank you very much for the interesting tip as it might help in the end. So I take it that you browse the level in an editor/port since you note the sectors and all. yeah? heh, I liked in part 1 of SAPIDUS where you just walk into the room of lost souls and walk out and they hardly even noticed. -EDIT- I watched the rest of UCA and now I'm half way through Dinner and I don't even feel full. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Jodwin Posted April 22, 2010 Since the quality sucks I'll have to record these again later, but whatever. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Abyssalstudios1 Posted May 16, 2010 Right, here's the progress on my unit circle map. It's almost completely playable now! Expect an upload to the archives (and a better video)... later. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EB9tuqyih78 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
ArmouredBlood Posted May 16, 2010 I think you should get it playtested in wads/mods first ... unless this is more of a technical map like that bit counting one a while back. And where'd you get those textures, heh. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Rock Lobstah Posted May 18, 2010 Ohhhh, Demonic Hordes is next! I've been anticipating your play-through of that map. I get the feeling your next update might take a while though, for that map is pandemonium. Along with Misri Halek it's definitely among the most memorable of AV, at least for me. By the way, eargosedown, you left out parts 46-48 in this thread. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

So I did: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxkqWf1qLJc (46) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sICpV3iL5SY (47) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxZXrCccwbs (48) So anyways, regardless, what was the overall opinion of the dual-commentary between myself and my boyfriend on that video a few back? If the next map is really big, that might keep things more interesting - Hell, I can probably even record it live. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Qaatar Posted May 19, 2010 I thought the commentary was interesting, although since he doesn't play doom, most of it was just him making fun of your screw-ups, which ironically was what made it interesting. Doing the commentary live might make the interaction a little more dynamic, which might be a positive thing. So yes, I think it is a good idea. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
eargosedown Posted May 19, 2010 I actually bought him the two Doom wads on steam a few weeks ago as a gift and he's been enjoying them, so he's not a complete noob anymore =p The other option is to try and find a time when me and Antroid could do some co-commentary, since he seemed interested in trying to get some group work together. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
darkreaver Posted May 20, 2010 Only way to keep it interesting is to comment/record live. imHo 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DeathevokatioN Posted May 20, 2010 darkreaver said:Only way to keep it interesting is to comment/record live. imHo Pointless post alert: If I were to do that the only commentory going on would be "fuck fuck fuck fuck..." when I'm getting hit, and one giant "FUCK"! every time I died, and a Tom G. Warrior "Ugh" every time I finish a level. heh 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
darkreaver Posted May 20, 2010 Hehe, I see! Same here thb :P But, I`ve seen tons of eargoesdown vids, and the live-commentary ones are by far the coolest to watch 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
NaturalTvventy Posted May 23, 2010 100% kills 0% secrets runthrough of my 'Awakening' WAD youtube.com/NaturalTvventy Couldn't get the audio to work. Something with the drivers and Windows 7 and who knows what. not sure how to improve the quality either, the video I upload looks fine as-is, but youtube seems to reduce the quality quite a bit.
