Do0minat0r Posted September 2, 2009 If there is any lesson to be learned from this, it is that a legendary Doom mapper is nothing but a gift to have around, and you can never take if for granted that a map made by them won't be their last. So you should always be thankful for and enjoy everything you play from one. 0 Share this post Link to post
Reisal Posted September 2, 2009 It's always horrible to lose one of our own. 0 Share this post Link to post
wildweasel Posted September 2, 2009 He was a talented mapper and a texturing prodigy, he always had a positive outlook on life, and he never let his ailment stop him from doing what he loved. Esa Repo, I salute you. 0 Share this post Link to post
Xenaero Posted September 2, 2009 I wish I had got to know Espi better. I only knew him from a few random convos we had, and didn't talk much after that. He was a cool guy, not to mention a talented mapper and contributor to the Doom scene. To think that all this happened... :( It's really admirable just how long he held on, after facing problem after problem. He always seemed like he had a positive attitude. R.I.P. Espi. Hope you're in a better place. 0 Share this post Link to post
punnyone Posted September 2, 2009 RIP Espi I don't think there is anyone who was braver and more determined than he was. 0 Share this post Link to post
leileilol Posted September 2, 2009 shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit this is one of the mappers that inspired me to map. R.I.P. 0 Share this post Link to post
Phobus Posted September 2, 2009 Terrible news :( Although, reading through the blog I guess, in a way, it was probably for the best that he passed away in his sleep when he did. His strength of character and spirit astound me. Although I was only recently introduced to his works I feel it a shame that such a talent is now lost. I hope that, whatever may come next for him and his family, it is the most positive possible. 0 Share this post Link to post
FireSeraphim Posted September 2, 2009 Damnit. I hardly knew him. But, I would like to offer my Empathy and Sympathy to Epsi's family and to the entire community. I understand what it's like to lose someone. Even in these hard times we must keep true to the faith and keep our spirits up, For even we are not Immortal and even we must pass away and return to the dust from whence we came. Therefore, Be strong everyone and always remember Him. 0 Share this post Link to post

Martin Howe Posted September 2, 2009 Didn't know him personally, but he was one of the luminaries of the community and was well liked by those who did know him. Anyway, Espi made stuff that has been of good to many people and that is as good a legacy/epitaph as any. 0 Share this post Link to post
Vorpal Posted September 2, 2009 I guess this outcome was obvious, but the shock still feels like a freight train hitting you ;-( I'll treasure the times we had together man. 0 Share this post Link to post

alando1 Posted September 2, 2009 Oh dear! I'm so sorry to hear about his passing. I want to give my condolences for his friends and family. Since he fought the cancer that was in him for a long time, he proves himself to be a true Space Marine and I honor him for that. Rest in Peace of a great Doomer; we shall not forget. david_a Posted September 2, 2009 :( I'll have to fire up SiD when I get home, I guess. 0 Share this post Link to post
DuckReconMajor Posted September 2, 2009 Though I didn't know Espi much outside of his blog post and playing through part of Suspended in Dusk (which I certainly need to finish now), I'm definitely sad to see him go. My grandma caught polio when she was very young, and it left her without use of one of her arms. However, she was able to do just as much as others could with two arms. After reading this post and seeing the spirit Espi seemed to have, I knew if he could get over this he would have little trouble doing things as he used to. I think even with the right mouse he could have gotten pretty good at Doom again. RIP Espi 0 Share this post Link to post

Gusta Posted September 2, 2009 oh no ... ;-( very unexpected and sad new for me, I am still in shock. I have always hoped, that he will be somehow fine, damn this is not fair! R.I.P. Espi ... 0 Share this post Link to post
Vile Posted September 2, 2009 RIP, a real shame that someone with such strength didn't get to live on. On the bright side, Toke and Amaster will get to play Suspended in Dusk 2. :) 0 Share this post Link to post
