It's part of compatflags. If you set it in the menu it should be saved.

Ah, cool. I see how it works now. I must have initially tried to insert it in the INI manually... or maybe in some previous version it could not be applied though the console?

That one's more or less game play related, as it's clearly easier to immediately notice where a dropped item goes when it bobs up and then falls than when it generally appears at the feet of the dying thing.
