printz Posted August 18, 2010 Does Eternity support high resolution textures? I'm asking this out of pure unknowledge. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted August 18, 2010 AFAIK... In the sense of large textures, yes. But not in the sense of cropped textures. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
printz Posted August 18, 2010 I'm interested in large, down-scaled textures. Though I fear they might look bad if appearing alongside regular textures. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I think we will have to add PNG-format texture support before this can be supported, because the DOOM patch format has a hard size limitation. There is also not currently any means to specify a scaling for a texture; that would require textual definition format, which is on the TODO list. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Because Eternity supports tall patches now, the size issue is null. And ZDoom allows the use of some unused fields in TEXTURE1 to specify scaling values on textures: http://zdoom.org/wiki/TEXTURE1 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

TIP : bigger values make the texture smaller (cover less area), which is not clear from the ZDoom Wiki. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I thought tall patches only roughly doubled the allowed texture height >_> 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Graf Zahl Posted August 20, 2010 Even then, you can still create larger textures with multiple patches. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DaniJ Posted August 31, 2010 Yeah its not a problem, Doomsday has also been doing this for a while now (Betas). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
