dr_st Posted February 10, 2002 I remember this poll on the DW main page quite some time ago. I'm now extending it. How do you pronounce the following words? Arch-Vile (DOOM II Monster) ZDOOM (DOOM Source Port) 0 Share this post Link to post
dr_st Posted February 10, 2002 Artch-Vile / Zee-Doom You awful awful man. Why didn't you vote? 0 Share this post Link to post
pritch Posted February 10, 2002 Ark-Vile / Zed-DOOM What else? All other options are either partially or totally retarded. 0 Share this post Link to post
pritch Posted February 10, 2002 And I object, Artch would NOT be the British pronunciation, even though technically it would be correct. 0 Share this post Link to post
dr_st Posted February 10, 2002 Ark-Vile / Zed-DOOM What else? All other options are either partially or totally retarded. pritch Ruler of the DOLTs Finally! A person with some sense! And I object, Artch would NOT be the British pronunciation, even though technically it would be correct. Yes, you're probably right. It's just that I though of that British Bulldog wrestler character, when I typed. If it bothers you, please notice, that in the poll "brittish" is spelled with 2 t's, which allows me to say that I didn't mean Britain, but rather Brittain, which is something altogether different and non-offensive. 0 Share this post Link to post
Zaldron Posted February 10, 2002 Artch Vile / no valid option I don't pronounce "Zdoom" in english but in spanish, wich sorta sounds like "setah-doom" 0 Share this post Link to post
Prime Posted February 10, 2002 WTF? I posted a reply on this thread hours ago, and now I don't even see it on here! WTF?! artch-vile / zee-doom. 0 Share this post Link to post
dsm Posted February 10, 2002 Well, I used to pronounce Archvile 'artch-vile', but after seeing pritch's post claiming that any other pronounciation than 'ark-vile' is retarded, I seem to have already got used to the 'ark-vile' pronounciation. And seeing as British English is the pronounciation which I prefer, I pronounce ZDoom 'zed-Doom' - I've always wondered how often Americans confuse 'z' and 'c', heh. 0 Share this post Link to post
læmænt Posted February 10, 2002 i pronounce ZDoom exactly the way it's written - "zdoom", no vowel between z and d. 0 Share this post Link to post
Erik Posted February 11, 2002 What Zaldron said, sounds somewhat like setah-doom in swedish too. 0 Share this post Link to post
