Well, while we're reporting stuff about Id's apparent return to form, Bethesda and Del Ray Books have announced a tie-in novel set in the Rage universe, confusingly also called Rage. Taking writing duties is Matt Costello, who wrote the game's plot as well as that of Doom 3 and it's tie-in novels (See? I managed to tie this news post into Doom somehow.)

The presence of Mormons in the novel has yet to be confirmed or denied.

But the presence of Mormons buying the novel (i.e. me) can be confirmed. Why is everyone so concerened with making tie-ins to games these days? Couldn't they just make the game do a good job of explaining the story and be done with it?

Aside from that, I find most video game novels to be dull and uninspired, so I expect little else from Rage's.

You do that, and everyone'll be bitching about there being "too much story" in the game they bought to run around and shoot everything that moves in.
