Just got around editing this pic for this thread alone. Otherwise, my graduation ceremony on the 22nd was a happy one, indeed!

WARNING: This is not a happy-go-lucky picture involving me. Not for the squeamish.

Spoiler

foot2009.jpg

This is what a bimalleolar fracture with complete separation looks like. The left leg looks okay, but don't let looks deceive you - that foot *should* be pointed straight up in the air, not 90 degrees to the left.

This happened back in 2009. It involved a situation where I almost bled to death internally following a botched gastric bypass surgery. I was in the Emergency Room three days after the operation, waiting to be triaged. My wife wheeled me over to the restroom at my request. I got up to go in, but the door was locked. I turned around and either got bumped or something else - whatever happened, I fell, with the fulcrum of my fall being my ankles.

My feet remained glued to the floor, while my upper body *snapped* off at the ankles and fell over like a log. I went down hard.

A rapid response ER crew showed up and started taking my vitals. Turns out my blood pressure was only 60/20 when I fell. I was in stage III hypovolemic shock. I remember the doctor saying, "Flood him." Then I passed out. Overall, it took 10 pints of blood to keep me alive during the 5 days I spent in ICU and subsequent month I spent in the hospital.

Fortunately, I can walk now, albeit I'm a chronic pain patient. I have to take opiates every day to alleviate the pain from the breaks. I also have hardware still implanted in one of my ankles (I had them remove it from my left ankle - it hurt too much).

That's where I stand today.

We had a great chat about mapping, mods, old school Doom, new school Doom, metal, guitars, how Doom is one of the best games ever made.....and...."the Curse of PeterMoro"  ...amongst other things LOL (like where the fuck is my chicken schnitzel burger? LOL)

For those wondering, I can confirm that @Doomkid is just as cool in real life as he is around here. Had an awesome time hangin with him. Dude is cool AF. A couple of hours went too fast.

Reason #477 why Doom is good for you :P

Small world eh?
The kids these days... they grow beards and listen to ACDC.

Bro, you were in Hungary and didn't tell us?! :'(

I can even regonize the temple, it's not even that far from where I live (EDIT: false alarm, I mistook it for one in Budapest but the flyer in the background says it's Debrecen)

This makes a lot of sense, as Notch would have plenty of spare time these days to edit a wiki.
