My wife Brenda and myself, sitting outside in the stands at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, TX for the National Hockey League's 2020 Winter Classic on New Year's Day, 2020. She was fine. I was on the borderline of hypothermia for some reason unknown to this date. I was utterly miserable. We stayed for the whole game, though.

Took some photos at the beach near where I live a couple weeks ago. Soon I'll be spending substantially less time in this area, so I've been making an effort to go and appreciate it every few days. It's a beautiful area, really:

The goofy-looking, beardless kid on the left side of the bottom row of the attached picture is yours truly, shown in 1981 after having won the Pasadena, TX PTA Council Scholarship. I don't remember what I had to do in order to win exactly, but I think the scholarship was $1000, divided over 2 semesters.

I attended a PTA ceremony where I got a certificate for my scholarship, which was also attended by a scholarship recipient from another district high school. As it turns out, that student was someone who was in my 2nd grade elementary school class! Small world indeed.

In honor of this weekend's IndyCar race at the Texas Motor Speedway, here's a picture of myself and my wife at the 2021 event. Apparently, there was an election held in proximity to the race date. If I recall correctly, it was quite windy that day, which is what I'm using for my excuse for the unkempt hair and beard. The googly eyes pose was intentional - I simply like doing that sometimes. ^_^

A photo of myself and my son, dated early 2011. We're getting ready to barbecue in my back yard. Many of you will recognize this as the source of my well-known "Mickey Mouse Ears" profile photo. That pic was cropped out of this photo. You'll also note a strong family resemblance between my son and me, hair (and beard) length notwithstanding. It's also where I get my handle of "Captain Greybeard" in at least one other forum.
