Crendowing Posted February 22, 2002 "Chao". Sorry, I'm not a Sonic fan, but it's just been on my mind for a while. These "anime" freaks at my school keep bringing their GBA's to school with Sonic Advance on them, and then they go into a Sonic mantra. 0 Share this post Link to post
Lüt Posted February 22, 2002 Depends on your accent I suppose, but proper English would be "Chay-o". If it's a Chinese name or something, they may it differently out that way. Or, you could be one of those annoying people who generally speaks proper English but occasionally pronounces things with a foreign accent if they were originally foreign words. 0 Share this post Link to post
Liam Posted February 22, 2002 I don't give a shit, sonic games are even more boring than Unreal. 0 Share this post Link to post
Zeratul 982 Posted February 22, 2002 «'kay·aw» Bah. On second thought, I don't care. 0 Share this post Link to post
IMJack Posted February 22, 2002 Japanese pronunciation: chya-o 'chya' is in "'Chya, right, and monkeys will fly outta my butt!" And a hard 'O' sound. 0 Share this post Link to post
dsm Posted February 22, 2002 yup, swedish accent all the way. Odd, I'm not Swedish. Oh yeah, and it's German accent too (Germans actually say 'chao' when they say goodbye. It's spelled differently though) rnnertr And that means? 0 Share this post Link to post
dr_st Posted February 22, 2002 I don't give a shit, sonic games are even more boring than Unreal. I actually like some of the platform Sonic games. And do you really like Daikatana? Cause I'm thinking about liking it too. I'm tired of everyone hating on it. Anyway, I voted "kay-o", because I once heard that the "Chao" is supposed to be the artificial non-existing singular form of "Chaos", and the pronunciation accordingly. BTW, does anybody know the singular of "dice"? Have I asked it before? 0 Share this post Link to post
Liam Posted February 22, 2002 And do you really like Daikatana? Cause I'm thinking about liking it too. I'm tired of everyone hating on it. I have fallen deeply in love with Daikatana, and I've only played the demo. It's been the first game since Hexen that I actually smiled whilst playing. I'm hunting out the full version, I'm going to try to grab a copy this weekend. It's a damn shame that ION died, too. BTW, does anybody know the singular of "dice"? Have I asked it before? Die. 0 Share this post Link to post
Duker900 Posted February 22, 2002 Odd, I'm not Swedish. Oh yeah, and it's German accent too (Germans actually say 'chao' when they say goodbye. It's spelled differently though) Tschau 0 Share this post Link to post

AndrewB Posted February 24, 2002 BTW, does anybody know the singular of "dice"? Have I asked it before? Die. Actually I believe it's di. 0 Share this post Link to post
IMJack Posted February 24, 2002 It's "die," but some people just call it a single "dice." And some of us call 'em "d6." 0 Share this post Link to post
Zaldron Posted February 24, 2002 And some of us call 'em "d6." We, the freaks. But you know, that's not as bad as having a mantra/pose/chant everytime you're supposed to roll them. All my players do some stupid shit. 0 Share this post Link to post
Crendowing Posted February 24, 2002 BTW, does anybody know the singular of "dice"? Have I asked it before?Die.Heh, that can almost be interpreted as Liam responding to a stupid post. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted February 24, 2002 Heh...thats exactly what I was thinking. I once had a d100, but some dumbass broke it. What a waste of $13. 0 Share this post Link to post
DooMBoy Posted February 25, 2002 I'd pronounce it chay-o, but then again, who cares? 0 Share this post Link to post
dr_st Posted February 25, 2002 BTW, does anybody know the singular of "dice"? Have I asked it before?Die.Heh, that can almost be interpreted as Liam responding to a stupid post. Are you suggesting that my question was stupid? At least I didn't ask how to pronounce Chao. At least I didn't answer it wrong. In fact I'm the only one who answered it right. 0 Share this post Link to post
Crendowing Posted February 25, 2002 dr_st's post1)No, but Liam might have thought so 2)Uhhhh.....didn't I just say I wasn't a Sonic fan? 3)As Lüt said, it all depends on how you WANT to pronounce it...there's no right or wrong 4)Loosen up dude, you're becoming worse than me :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Kid Airbag Posted February 26, 2002 Doesn't that mean good-bye in like italian or something? 0 Share this post Link to post
Crendowing Posted February 26, 2002 Thanks for clearing that up Dan. Actually, that's the slang way of saying it. The proper way is arividirce, however it's spelled. 0 Share this post Link to post
