DeathevokatioN Posted August 10, 2011 I thought the sprites were fine. The fact that they stood out from the rest of the bestiary aesthetically was a good thing for me. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Snakes Posted August 11, 2011 Yep. Played and thoroughly enjoyed. Shits on pretty much any mapping I've done... again. At least I've got a new author to steal shamelessly from look at for influence. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
skillsaw Posted August 11, 2011 Thanks everyone for all the feedback and help. I'm calling this thing finalized. Final version: http://www.mediafire.com/?mlcur1r3x2ara11 idgames upload imminent. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
methy Posted August 13, 2011 Really good wad, with some moon like visuals you don't often see in Doom. Far from the overall quality of Vanguard though but still very enjoyable. The only downside is that I just can't stand the last music, from Europe. However I'm glad to see you used a music from Journey To Silius again, which is one of my favourite NES game (I even own a very rare romhack on cartridge of that game). A few screenshots I took while playing: http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m51/Corentin3/Doom/Screenshot_Doom_20110813_081507.png http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m51/Corentin3/Doom/Screenshot_Doom_20110813_111925.png http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m51/Corentin3/Doom/Screenshot_Doom_20110813_113524.png http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m51/Corentin3/Doom/Screenshot_Doom_20110813_114734.png 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Phobus Posted August 13, 2011 A fair bit shorter and more slaughter-heavy than I was expecting, but I really enjoyed it. The novel theme definitely helped, as did the music. I was quite amused at Doomguy's version of using spacecraft :P 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
NaturalTvventy Posted August 18, 2011 Yaknow what would be a slightly better name for this thing? Lunacy. Sounds a bit better to me at least :) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

purist Posted August 18, 2011 Oh well, you'll have to use it for the sequel :-) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Katamori Posted August 21, 2011 Your music was surprising, especially the Lotus: The Ultimate Challange theme on map02 couldn't you make it a bit louder? because it was too quiet 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
skillsaw Posted August 21, 2011 It didn't seem particularly quiet on mine, but that's probably because I balance the audio to favor the music instead of the sound effects. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Katamori Posted August 21, 2011 By the way, I finished the WAD. You are pretty good, the difficulty levels were exact, the design was great and original. Due to your amazing work (because I see, you made Vanguard too) I think you might be the mapper of the year on Cacowards. Maybe I'll nominate you, if it's possible. =) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Foodles Posted August 22, 2011 I'm not gonna lie, I didn't enjoy this as much as vanguard. Of course thats like saying I didn't enjoy Doom2 as much as Doom, both games are amazing just one is slightly better. This is a great mapset and I am gonna nominate you for mapper of the year, well done. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted August 23, 2011 Just finished it. The music for the last level was hilarious. :) The only part I didn't like was the teleport gulag on MAP04. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
skillsaw Posted August 24, 2011 Thanks Gez, although I'm not quite sure what you mean by the teleport gulag. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted August 24, 2011 I mean this area, once the walls close in and the monster floodgates are opened. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Yeah, it was the hardest trick in the whole WAD, but I was able to finish it even in UV level. =) Just use the Rocket Launcher and try to go far to the fittest monsters (e.g. Hellknights) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DeathevokatioN Posted August 24, 2011 That was actually one of my favorite parts. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Marcaek Posted August 24, 2011 Katamori said:Just use the Rocket Launcher and try to go far to the fittest monsters (e.g. Hellknights) You're better off going for the imps and zombiemen. The imps will box you in if there's enough, and you can't dodge hitscans. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Well, the location doesn't matter, just take away from the targets like always when you use the RL. The RL only methode works for me, although usually I defeat these hard areas. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Katamori Posted August 25, 2011 By the way, I made a random video about that interesting last level. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

However, I have to speed up the original video, because the gameplay was about 7 minutes and the song itself is 5 minutes only. After that, it was easy, although the gameplay became a bit fast... 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
