NoneeLlama Posted September 9, 2011 I love Hell To Pay. I love how you can feel the progress through the game (something I always missed in Doom 2), I love how they made semi-realistic stuff without making the maps boring, and I love the sprite replacemnest (no matter how crappy they are). The music is pretty good too (especially map01). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
fullmetalvaran33 Posted September 9, 2011 It's hard to pick just one, because there are a fair amount that I really enjoy. I guess I'll break it down to the top 5 for each time of WAD out there. Single Level: 1. "Grove" by B.P.R.D 2. "Dawn of Reality" by Reinchard 3. "Void" by Cyb 4. "City of the Damned"/"City of the Damned: Apocalypse" by Tormentor667 5. "Oniria" by Aluqah Multi-Level (14 or less maps) 1. "Unloved" by BlueEagle 2. "The Ultimate Torment and Torture" by Tormentor 667 3. "Hell Ground" by Eternal 4. "Phocas Island 2" by chopkinsca 5. "Demons of Problematique" 1+2 by Exl MegaWADs (15+ maps) 1. "Alien Vendetta" by various 2. "Speed of Doom" by Joshy and Darkwave0000 3. "Scythe 2" by Erik Alm 4. "Congestion 1024" by various 5. "Diet 32 in 24" by the 32in24 Team 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

hex11 Posted September 10, 2011 I already listed Classic Episode but my favorite Doom II mapset is Dark Covenant. In 1996, I was playing a lot of Quake, but that stopped entirely when I found this. :) Even now I like to play through once in a while, or just a few levels. Even the first map is very good, and I've come to think of it as my home since I don't really have one. Despite that, I haven't yet found 100% secrets everywhere, but often notice some details I hadn't before. I haven't played enough Heretic or Hexen PWADs to have favorites for those. Maybe someday, since chocolate-doom can run those too... 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Moustachio Posted September 12, 2011 IWAD: The Ultimate Doom Megawad: Alien Vendetta Episodes: 2002 A Doom Odyssey Out of the latter two, 2002 is my favorite. I just love the level design so much! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Phml Posted September 12, 2011 My own wads are my favorite wads. Selfish mapping pays off, as I replay these more than any others, and genuinely enjoy it. Other than that, Sunder or Scythe 2, probably. Tough to pick between the two. Scythe 2 has much stronger gameplay, but it's so tightly constructed and controlled it sometimes feels artificial ; whereas Sunder has vivid, artistic environments, inspiring enough to mask some gameplay shortcomings. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Daiyu_Xiaoxiang Posted September 13, 2011 Speed of Doom - Nice and beautiful maps, hard but fun. Whispers of Satan - Beautiful design in ceilings. Alien Vendetta - The music, atmosphere etc. are very nice. Congestion 384 - Short and straight forward. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
phobosdeimos1 Posted September 13, 2011 Jenesis Pt 2 1monster DTWID submissions by 40oz, Marnetmar, C30N9 and Ellmo Motornerve The Jaguar TC (I love the new simplistic but really nice-looking texturing + new textures) Justice - Infernal Mechanics for Zdoom Vaporware Demo although it's not what I'd usually like Laz Rojas' Wolfendoom series, not for gameplay but certainly for the amount of effort he put into that with the very inadequate Mac tools he had to use at the time. Bratislava 2011 for the pure intense gameplay that I'd never had so much equally challenging and exciting fun playing. Also some WADs made by *cough* you know who were advanced for their time. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
