TNT MAP31 - hitting the switch without yellow key

Since everyone knows that the map can be completed without the key by straferunning to the throne and hitting the switch, I'm wondering is it possible to reach the switch behind the color-bar without the key. I've tried to hit the switch in the original DOOM2.EXE, abortively. If it's possible, does anyone know a demo or trick for this?

I'm not sure, but incase you ever want to try MAP31 again the RIGHT way, you can download a patch WAD that will make he yellow key appear the next time you play the map loading the IWAD with the patch.
