Sharessa Posted March 20, 2002 Dude, Space Marines aren't made to lie in wait. They can take almost any kind of punishment with their power armor. The scouts are the ones who do all the sneaking. 0 Share this post Link to post

The role of infantry units is primarily to clear out confined spaces - other than that they are just used to draw fire away from the expensive tanks or to dispose of possible survivors after a heavy bombardment (more or less the same as clearing out confined spaces). I doubt these spacemarines would be able to move very well in confined spaces with these ridiculously big suits. The Warhammer 40k marines just look like a big waste of armour. 0 Share this post Link to post
Zaldron Posted March 20, 2002 Did you ever saw that British prototype for plastic police armor? It was as bulky as the W40k figures and no one complained about movement. Highly-armored infantry would use light ceramics and plastics, the armors would be easy to wear. 0 Share this post Link to post
dsm Posted March 20, 2002 I never saw that prototype armour no, but I know that even with regular, modern combat equipment it can be a pain to move around in some crammed spaces - I've tried it myself, not fun! 0 Share this post Link to post
dsm Posted March 20, 2002 Why the fuck am I complaining about realism??? That's not the point. The point is that I don't like the bulky look of Warhammer 40k marines, because I simply don't dig that look. Generally, I don't like the bulky look of Warhammer or Warhammer 40k characters in general - all humanoid characters tend to be way to broad over the shoulders for my tastes - real humans don't look like that. Another thing that turns me off in regards to the Warhammer 40k marines is the lack of cool-looking camoflage patterns. I prefer marine concepts, which are modern combat uniform lookalikes, meaning that the marine should wear modern style camoflage army pants and a good-looking (but NOT overdone) light armour vest, preferably wearing a cool helmet (cool futuristic helmets are extremely rare imo - most of them look like shit). That's just my taste. I apologize if I seemed rude before, but I'm currently having one of my extreme periods, where I tend to be happy at one moment and extremely pissed at another moment. Now can we please drop this "realistic-armour" discussion before I post something I'll regret? 0 Share this post Link to post

Exactly.I apologize if I seemed rude before, but I'm currently having one of my extreme periods, where I tend to be happy at one moment and extremely pissed at another moment. Heh. Sounds like manic depression. You should get that checked out. Of course, look who this is coming from... /me needs a psychiatrist ANYWASTE, I never was very good at Warhammer (thats why I dropped the game), SO i GUSS MY CAPLOCK is broken. Uh...I mean, I guess my knowledge on battlefield tactics is pretty skimpy. Long story short, 'Nids rule, I should have played them instead of Vanilla Marines. 0 Share this post Link to post
