Diablo 3

Recommended Posts

How does garbage like D3 get such high ratings from 'professional' reviewers, the game blows really hard and wasn't worth the wait. If you want a good game, go buy Diablo 2 if you don't have it already. D3 is a Shit game that reeks of AIDS wish I didn't buy into the hype and waste my cash on this junk, wanted to love it but the game feels rushed, uninspired and boring as fucking hell. The more I play it the more I hate it. RIP Blizzard.

Just because YOU hate it doesn't mean it's bad. I'm having a blast here and so are many others. If you don't like the game just get a refund, you've already told us that you don't like it.

I wish you stopped shoving your opinion down our throats. Contact blizz, ask for a refund and be happy.

Paid reviews.
Doom_RO, chill man, just stop reading his posts if you have feeling thaat he's "shoving it down our throat", your response makes me feel like i'm at Blizzard forums, they always blame players, not the game.

Sp if items get automatically identified with a right click, then what is the point of having 'hidden' stats on them in the first place? That just sounds retarded to me.

Much better than a time-out to town.

Yeah, I really hated going back to town for scrolls and most of all for POTIONS.

Possibly because they believed people didn't want to mess around with having to have inventory slots taken up with id and tp scrolls? I don't know. Rare yellows are unidentified however, you simply need to right click them to id them. I assume uniques are the same way but I never saw one drop. And yes tp scrolls are out too. TP is a quest reward skill you learn early on.

Yeah...The worst part about d3's story isn't even cains death or the painfully childish scooby-doo villainy of the lesser evils. It's the lack of any real connection or continuity with d1/d2. Tyrael destroys the worldstone and says it would have catastrophic consequences...that we don't see. The only connection is some retcon that the dark wanderer/diablo impregnated some hag prior to meeting up with mephisto in d2 so that he could be born again in 20 years as the alien queen with a speech impediment....yeah ok.

True, but what I said about "better story than D1 and D2" was quoted from a obviously fake review of the game. Wanted to point it out so It doesn't seem like I hate D1 or D2.

Do you mean that items get automatically identified now? If so, then THANK GOD. I never liked having to go to town just to identify things -- it was breaking the dungeon-crawling mood. It would also make going ironman more exciting, as you'll get more choice on items than before.

Cain dies? Okay. He was only cool in Diablo 1 anyway. By Diablo 2, he became boring and I don't understand why they needed to bring him with you everywhere. He was an old man.

Plot is made by the Dark Wanderer having impregnated an old woman 20 years ago? Sounds silly. The world doesn't look as apocalyptic as suggested by Worldstone's destruction? Hm.

Dark Wanderer impregnated a woman that will be another evil? Sounds like reverse baby Jesus to me...

The Diablo story was never really that good, especially in Diablo 1 where it is paper-thin. The universe however IS interesting and I really like the changes they have made to it.

Which is perfectly fine since it doesn't really need a story beyond "there's a big scary fucking demon below town plotting evil things".

Why? It's not a jrpg, we don't need a convoluted story about tyraels fall from grace/eventual redemption. It has nothing to do with anything except to 'expand his story in the game universe.' Or azmodan conjuring up his fat mug in front of you to tell you that you've foiled his diabolical plans now, but he'll get you next time. There are far too many instances of secondary and tertiary characters that automatically group up with you and just talk, talk, talk. It's pointless and unnecessary and it stops the flow of the game. And of course there are the numerous facepalm inducing references back to diablo 2...as if we forgot about it.

For a game like this, the story needs to be simple enough that you needn't pay it any attention, but logical enough so that it drives the game from one neat place to the next. Diablo 3 just tries way too hard to have a story AND tries to shove it in your face. Diablo 2 had an ok story, but it didn't have cutscenes where you lost control of your character so npcs could ramble on about bullshit all the damn time. THAT is unforgivable. But when DIABLO HIMSELF does it, in the middle of the final fight with him I was ready to punch my goddamn monitor.

But not too simple. Just look at Doom, whose plot never got developped. Instead, it got retconned every time a new generation of the franchise appeared.

It's been retconned once in it's eighteen year lifespan thus far.

Doom novels, Doom 3, Doom film, Doom 4 ("neither a sequel nor a remake"). Not just once. Maybe I fail the meaning of retcon, but I'm referring to not continuing the former's plot, but changing it. Doom 3 is still compatible with Doom 1 though, being in different places [/SORRY FOR OFFTOPIC]

That's exactly what I think about the story but I am talking about the universe, not about the story. For example, the Mass Effect series does not have a very unique story, it's just another "aliens whom we know nothing about attack earth" but on a much grander scale. What makes the series so compelling is the races and the places you see(or hear about). Read the "Book of Cain" to see what I'm talking about.

I think people dislike the Diablo 3 story so much because times have changed(so have the original players) and quite simply standards are much higher too.

I have no interest in Diablo 3 at all. I knew long before that it would be restrictive and would probably have some fancy DRM stuff that stopped you from playing. It's like the game was made to protect us from ourselves. I feel that many new games today have lost their edge, mostly because they forget where they came from.

I played Diablo 2, it was addicting and I wasted many hours on it wasting time killing things, upgrading my solo summon Necromancer (which beat Hell Baal and all the quests). But after all that, there was nothing else really to do. Grinding your way to 99 is not fun but more of a job.

As for the story. The story of the game wasn't really in the game at all, it was in the manuals, it had history. In fact you can grasp some of the events of Diablo 2 by reading the manual of Diablo 1, it was all in there. There was more story in Diablo 2 but you really had to talk to all the townspeople to get what was going on before, during, and after each quest.

I almost smirked at the Vader/death star joke. Other than that, not even remotely amusing. At least you're consistent with how bad every single one of your posts are.

I soloed the Butcher on Inferno in 61 seconds. Since uploading this last night, I have been made aware of faster kills. However, I'm actually using Act 1-and-below gear, not Act 4 gear that my DH/Wiz friends funneled me while they could roflstomp content that was meant to be inaccessible.

You make me feel special

The game sucks and I wish I bought 3 cases of beer instead, would've got more value and entertainment. The DRM was enough to make me hate the game let alone the joke of a game itself.

Well I was rather enjoying the game up to a point, as I had managed to overlook the abysmal storytelling and absence of impending doom in favour of reasonable gameplay. Being that I only manage full enjoyment when playing in hardcore mode, however, I simply lost the desire to carry on after a disconnect in single player caused me to die to a rabble of tortured thralls in act II.

I played on my brother's account, so it's hardly a loss.
